AmericanAg™, global provider of diversified reinsurance services, is looking for a Crop Insurance Analyst to work out of our office in Schaumburg, Illinois. This is a hybrid position working in the office three days a week.
This is a market facing role that will interact with American Farm Bureau Insurance Services, Inc. (AFBIS), the Farm Bureau® insurance companies, crop reinsurance brokers, and other business partners. This position may also work with AmericanAg™ Accounting and Contracts departments.
Reporting to the Crop Insurance Manager, the Crop Insurance Analyst will contribute to the effort to profitably grow AmericanAg™’s crop insurance portfolio by analyzing and evaluating the crop insurance products written by AmericanAg™. The position offers the opportunity to work on a wide variety of projects utilizing a diverse range of actuarial, accounting, and analytical skills.
Specifically, the Crop Insurance Analyst will:
- Participate in the review and implementation of the crop insurance business plan, including determining the profitability of crop and livestock business
- Research and evaluate new opportunities to profitably grow crop and livestock insurance
- Assist in the development and implementation of the Farm Bureau® and independent agent strategy to grow crop and livestock insurance
- Contribute to the marketing of AmericanAg™ to Farm Bureau® and independent agents
- Provide technical expertise and recommendations for AmericanAg™ and Farm Bureau® MPCI and livestock fund designations
- Evaluate and maintain AmericanAg™ crop hail and private product rates and assist in rate filings
- Develop an understanding of the accumulation of all crop insurance business, both direct and assumed reinsurance, and work with others to determine appropriate exposure management of the business
- Support the crop insurance operations of AmericanAg™ by creating and maintaining reports for internal and external partners
What is needed for this role:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Experience using Excel and SQL to extract and analyze data
- Insurance or reinsurance knowledge/experience
- Strong communication, organization skills, and attention to detail
Preferred knowledge/experience:
- Crop-related insurance knowledge, along with crop insurance pricing and/or crop insurance accounting
- Knowledge of commodity markets
- Rate filing experience
- Experience evaluating profitability and maintaining insurance portfolios
The expected starting salary range for this position is between $70,000 and $90,000. Applicable salary ranges may differ across markets. Actual pay will be determined based on experience and other job-related factors permitted by law. This position is also eligible for an annual productivity bonus.
