WRI : Global Events & Engagement Manager – Washington DC

This is a hybrid position which requires 8 days/month in the office. You can be based in our office in Washington DC, London, or The Hague. Existing work authorization is required at the time of application submission as WRI is unable to sponsor any visa work sponsorship for this position. To be eligible for this position in US, you must be a resident of DC, Maryland or Virginia at the start of employment.

Job Highlight:

 

Reporting to Senior Operations Manager of the Global Energy Program, you will integrate equity into your work. This is a new position within the Global Energy Program. You will work with the Energy team leadership, you will create and deliver the Global Energy Program’s strategy for in-person, hybrid and digital events. This includes managing and delivering multiple large meetings, conferences, summits, and related events for high-profile stakeholders, donors, and more. For example, this role will lead planning and operations for large, highly produced global summits on the energy transition that bring together leaders from government agencies, renewable and clean energy companies, financial institutions, other private sector actors and NGOs. You will be supported by the Global Energy Program Communications and Engagement team, and WRI’s Institutional Communications & Events team.

 

What will you do:

 

  • Manage and oversee the organization of in-person, hybrid and virtual conferences, summits, meetings, and related events and meetings for the Global Energy Program
  • Manage all logistical and administrative aspects of meetings; including researching venues or virtual platforms, suppliers and contractors; negotiating all costs and contracts; and establishing effective relationships with external vendors and suppliers
  • Manage/monitor all aspects of conferences and travel budget expenditures
  • Work closely with communications professionals to manage creative assets, book photographer/videographer, archive photo/video and archive other digital and physical materials (invites, program books)
  • Curate event content in collaboration with subject matter experts
  • Recruit and manage speakers by coordinating and maintaining schedules and communication to speakers
  • Serve as the day-to-day manager on all large events, including virtual, in-person and hybrid (in-person+ virtual) events, small member receptions, conference side events, and forums
  • Establish strong working relationships with Global Energy Program contacts to enable their successful attendance at meetings and events

 

What will you need:

 

  • Education: You have a completed bachelor’s degree in a field related to business, international development, public administration, or international affairs. Relevant work experience in lieu of degree is accepted
  • Experience: You have a minimum of 7 years of full-time relevant experience in event management or project management preferably in a non-profit or government setting
  • Experience organizing and managing meetings and events for high-level attendees
  • Experience working with international teams on projects involving international donors or partners
  • Experience managing complex projects and detailed and complex budgets
  • Experience of developing strong working relationships internally and externally
  • Comfortable supporting teams in various time-zones
  • Languages: You will have written and spoken proficiency in English. Other languages are a plus.
  • Requirements: Existing work authorization is required where this position is based. WRI is unable to authorize visa work authorization

 

Potential Salary: US salary range is between 96,000 and 116,000 USD. UK: 53 – 67K GBP. NL: 67K – 84K EUR. If located in another country office, salary will be determined by local market conditions.

 

Salary is commensurate with experience and other compensable factors.
