The Opportunity:
Maureen Joy Charter School seeks a joyful, passionate, creative, and dedicated Reading Interventionist who is committed to fostering a dynamic and engaging learning environment for young people. Our K-8 school is dedicated to providing a robust educational and social experience that nurtures and challenges each young person to grow academically, socially, and personally.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree. A degree in Elementary Education or a related field is preferred.
- Hold a valid teaching certification in elementary education or related area.
- Proven experience in classroom teaching at the elementary level.
- Strong understanding of state standards and curriculum frameworks.
- Ability to utilize diverse and effective teaching methods.
The Strongest Candidates Will Have:
- A teaching philosophy is aligned with the Science of Reading
- A proficient understanding of phonics & phonological awareness
- Experience utilizing behavior plans
- The ability to clearly communicate next steps and deadlines on a school-wide level
- The ability to build and maintain relationships across multiple teams
- Is proficient with Google Sheets and data analysis
- Experience teaching multiple grade levels (K-12)
- Comfort working with kids ranging from Kindergarten to 5th grade

Major Projects and Responsibilities:
Academic RTI Team
- Develop, revise, and communicate protocols for RTI implementation in conjunction with the MTSS Coordinator & AP of Student Support Services
- Manage iReady online intervention tool in conjunction with the MTSS Coordinator and Ap of Student Support Services
- Plan and facilitate universal screening
- Monitor RTI usage and follow up as necessary
- Coordinate with EC case managers/ESLCoordinator on decisions regarding referrals in conjunction with the MTSS Coordinator and the AP of Student Support Services
- Manage the completion of RTI plans in conjunction with the MTSS Coordinator and the AP of Student Support Services
- Provide feedback
- Coordinate with managers
- Analyze school-wide data and trends in universal screening in conjunction with the MTSS Coordinator and the AP of Student Support Services
Behavior RTI Team
- Attend bi-weekly meetings focused on data analysis and problem solving
- Partner with teachers to create RTI-B plans for students and provide check-ins throughout the life of the plan
- Provide small-group SEL instruction for identified scholars
Academic RTI: Tier III Instruction
- Implement RTI reading intervention aligned with the Science of Reading approach for identified scholars in small groups
- Write Tier III reading plans for all students on caseload
- Attend parent conferences for students on caseload
Other Essential Responsibilities:
- Assist in various school duties, including arrival, lunch, dismissal, and recess as needed.
- Attend and participate in faculty meetings and professional development sessions.
- Engage in continuous professional growth to improve teaching and learning.
- Ensure compliance with school policies and regulatory requirements.
Reporting Structure:
- You will report directly to the Assistant Principal of Student Support Services.
Miscellaneous:
- Participation in extracurricular activities such as clubs, sports, or after-school tutoring is encouraged.
- Flexibility to take on axillary roles within the school as needed to support overall student engagement and success.
