Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join our team. In this role, you will work under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist to provide therapeutic services to patients in their home. Your expertise will be instrumental in helping patients achieve their rehabilitation goals and improve their quality of life.
Responsibilities
- Assist Occupational Therapists in implementing individualized treatment plans based on patient assessments and care plans.
- Utilize knowledge of anatomy and medical terminology to effectively communicate with patients and healthcare team members.
- Provide therapeutic interventions to patients across diverse populations, including geriatrics and pediatrics.
- Monitor patient progress and document outcomes accurately in accordance with facility protocols.
- Educate patients and their families about treatment plans, exercises, and strategies for daily living activities.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive patient care.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment for therapy sessions, adhering to all safety protocols.
Qualifications
- Certification as an Occupational Therapy Assistant from an accredited program.
- Strong knowledge of anatomy and medical terminology relevant to occupational therapy practices.
- experience or familiarity with outpatient therapy settings is preferred; experience in home health or acute care is a plus.
- Ability to assist patients with various needs while demonstrating empathy and patience.
- Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
- Familiarity with developing care plans tailored to individual patient needs is advantageous.
- A commitment to ongoing professional development and staying current with best practices in occupational therapy.
