The Director, Scientific Communications – Surgical-Medical Affairs will lead a team responsible for the design and execution of scientific communication strategies. This role will focus on publication strategy execution while fostering leadership, team development, and cross-functional collaboration across Edwards Lifesciences.
How you will make an impact:
- Develop and lead the execution of podium and publication strategies in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders (e.g., physician investigators, KOLs) to ensure maximum effectiveness in the execution of the scientific communication plan and maintenance of Edwards presence at national and international conferences while ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements. Develop and lead the execution of a cross-functional scientific communication strategy.
- Manage and oversee the work of sub-functions and/or areas and may have financial budget responsibilities. Develop a robust talent development plan in alignment with functional growth strategies of the department.
- Develop, maintain, and disseminate strong scientific knowledge of the current competitive landscape and future product entries including the identification, summarization and dissemination of key conference scientific sessions
- Develop processes and use metrics to assess the impact of scientific communication programs.
- Collaborate with the internal stakeholders to ensure integration of current clinical data and insights into training and education curricula and that HCP scientific information needs are met.
- Identify clinical evidence gaps, propose and/or lead the execution of evidence development strategies to address them.
What you will need (Required):
- Bachelor’s degree in related field with 10 years of previous experience required or equivalent work experience based on Edwards criteria
- Related experience in working in clinical, research, or healthcare industry and skill levels exceeding the requirements of the Manager Required and
- Demonstrated track record in people management

- Master’s Degree or equivalent in related field Experience working in a regulated industry
- Proven successful project management leadership skills
- Expert understanding of scientific communication procedures while identifying applications of functional knowledge and existing methodologies to complex problems
- Expert in the development of scientific/medical conference proceedings and manuscript publication in major scientific journals
- Expert scientific acumen, for use in various circumstances, including in working with internal stakeholders and with physicians in identifying evidence gaps and opportunities
- Expert knowledge of ACCME, AdvaMed, EUcomed, FDA and ISO regulations
- Demonstrated ability to manage one or more teams and provide coaching and feedback, including responsibility for all employee actions including hire/fire authority and partnering with HR on all aspects of employee relations

For California (CA), the base pay range for this position is $170,000 to $241,000 (highly experienced).
