Description We are offering an exciting opportunity for an Accountant in our Non-Profit organization based in Midlothian, Virginia. In this role, you will be tasked with a variety of accounting duties, including processing accounts receivable, ensuring compliance with state and local filing requirements, assisting with year-end audits, and other tasks as directed by the Controller and VP, Finance and Administration.
Responsibilities:
• Manage and process accounts receivable with precision and timeliness.
• Regularly monitor and maintain compliance with state and local filing requirements.
• Prepare and distribute invoices on a monthly, quarterly, and as-needed basis.
• Assist with the preparation of year-end financial and program audits.
• Maintain accurate cash receipts and track donations.
• Prepare and post journal entries and reconcile them as necessary.
• Serve as a backup for accounts payable when required.
• Record investment income and manage investment statements.
• Maintain and update Fixed Assets, prepaid expenses, and amortization.
• Use your proficiency with Excel and other job-related programs and software to compile data for financial analysis. Requirements • Minimum of two years of experience in a similar role within the non-profit sector
• Proficiency in managing Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR)
• Demonstrable experience in performing bank reconciliations
• Proficiency in managing the General Ledger
• Experience in recording and managing Journal Entries
• Ability to manage Month End Close procedures
• Proficiency in using NetSuite software for accounting tasks
• Experience in using Oracle for accounting and financial management
• Proficiency in using QuickBooks software for accounting tasks
• Experience in using SAP for accounting and financial management tasks
