Summary of Job Duties:The Assistant Director for Fraternity and Sorority Life serves as the primary advisor for the UA Little Rock fraternities and sororities. This position supports the planning and implementation of leadership development and education programs for the fraternity and sorority community. Additionally, this position assists with various Student Experience Center-sponsored events.
The Assistant Director for Fraternity and Sorority Life is a full-time, 12-month, exempt position. This position is governed by state and federal laws, and agency/institution policy.Qualifications:
Required Education and/or Experience
Master’s degree or bachelor’s degree plus (2) years of experience advising student organizations, fraternity/sorority life, or student life programming;
A valid driver’s license is required for travel.
Preferred Education and/or Experience
Membership in an inter/national fraternity or sorority is highly preferred.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Administration, supervision, and advisement for the College Panhellenic Council, Interfraternity Council, and the National Pan-Hellenic Council, a multicultural sorority, honor societies, respective chapters, and executive boards, related committees, and programs;
Attend meetings and council-sponsored events, and provide advisement;
Oversee fraternity/sorority-related events such as Greek Week, National Hazing Prevention Week, new member programs, etc.;
Provide day-to-day management of the fraternity/sorority programs, including social and civic responsibility, diversity education, academic achievement, alcohol awareness, bystander training, risk management, membership recruitment/intake education, problem resolution, community planning, leadership, and personal development;
Advise and assist in the coordination of all membership recruitment and intake processes;
Supervise chapter extension/expansion, colonization, or re-colonization processes;
Maintain collaborative relationships with alumni(ae) advisors, house corporations, inter/national headquarters, and community partners;
Serve as a liaison between the Department of Public Safety, facilities departments, etc. in the administration, upkeep, and compliance of fraternal organizations and properties;
Provide on-call (24 hours) emergency support to the fraternity and sorority community;
Work collaboratively with the Office of the Dean of Students, particularly, in regard to student conduct to assure consistency in standards within the Greek Community;
Mediate student disagreements and misunderstandings;
Establish, disseminate, and interpret university policies and necessary protocol and operating procedures;
Ensure compliance with all contracts, rules, regulations, policies, and laws;
In conjunction with other student affairs units, create a consistent leadership training model for members of the fraternity/sorority community;
Conduct needs assessment and outcome evaluations;
Manage the budgets assigned to fraternity and sorority life including allCPC/IFC/NPHCaccount balances;
Consult with students on an individual basis to improve leadership abilities;
Promote involvement factors to encourage retention of students;
Serve as a good role model demonstrating high ethical standards;
Perform other duties as assigned.
