Position Description
Position Overview
Reporting to the Senior Director of Operations and Marketing for Graduate, Executive, and Professional Education, the Assistant Director of Marketing and Communications will play a key role in implementing marketing strategies that enhance the visibility and reputation of Seattle University. This position will be instrumental in reinforcing the university’s brand identity and aligning marketing efforts with strategic enrollment goals to support academic growth.
The Assistant Director will be responsible for executing comprehensive marketing and communication plans that build brand awareness, support recruitment, admissions, yield, and retention, and engage key stakeholders across the university community. This role requires close collaboration with departments such as Enrollment, Marketing Communications (Marcom), and Information Technology, as well as with both on-campus and external partners.
Essential Responsibilities
- Marketing Strategy Execution: Implement and follow marketing objectives and initiatives, aligning efforts with current industry trends and market dynamics.
- Data and Insights: Analyze, organize, and template data to inform Strategic Marketing and Enrollment Plans, support the launch of new programs, and contribute to meeting enrollment goals.
- Content Management: Manage content across student-facing web pages, social media, and CRM communication channels, ensuring consistency and quality in all recruitment communications.
- Collateral Development: Partner with the Director of Graduate Admissions, Marcom, and Directors of Enrollment Marketing to create marketing materials (digital and print) that resonate with target audiences.
- CRM Optimization: Engage with CRM workflows, reporting, and best practices, maintaining lead tracking, communication plans, and event planning processes.
- Event Support: Assist in the planning and execution of key recruitment and retention events in partnership with Graduate Admissions and Program Directors.
- Campaign Measurement: Track and report on ROI for marketing campaigns and initiatives, using insights to drive continuous improvement.
- Industry Trends: Stay informed of best practices and emerging trends in graduate, online, and professional education to drive innovation and maintain competitive positioning.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

- Technical Skills: Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office 365, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Familiarity with CRM and CMS platforms.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, business, or a related field, with at least one year of relevant experience.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and multitasking abilities.
- Demonstrated commitment to customer service and professional development.
- Proven experience working with diverse populations and advancing inclusivity.
- Familiarity with CRM and CMS tools for content creation and management.
- Eagerness to learn and adapt to new technologies.
Preferred Qualifications
- 3 + years of marketing experience, ideally within Higher Education.
- Experience with Slate CRM.

Compensation at a Glance
Salary Range: $52,000 – $70,000
Seattle University has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information, and not based on a candidate’s gender or any other protected status.

Hybrid Eligible
This position may be eligible for a hybrid schedule after successful completion of an introductory work period of 3-6 months. This may mean that a hybrid eligible role will begin on-campus initially and then will transition to hybrid format following onboarding and training. Flexible work plans are subject to periodic review and may be changed or terminated at any time for any reason at the university’s discretion.
