We have seen great success in innovating advanced manufacturing techniques in the design and fabrication of temperature sensors, thermocouple systems, interconnect cable-harness assemblies, probes, and sensors. For over 65 years, we have successfully supplied these products to the commercial, business, military jet, rotor, and spacecraft markets.
Located in Branford, CT, we have an opportunity for a results-driven and growth-oriented Business Development Manager (BDM). The Business Development Manager (BDM) plays a crucial role in driving business growth within the aerospace, defense, and government sectors. You’ll be responsible for identifying and developing new business opportunities, building strong customer relationships, and collaborating with internal teams to deliver tailored solutions. Your technical insight and ability to understand customer needs will help us grow in these key markets. This role offers potential for leadership development and a path to advancing in the company.
This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements; therefore, a “US Person” as defined by 22 CFR 120.62, 15 CFR 734.2(b)(2)(ii), 10 CFR 810.3, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3) is required. “US Person” includes a US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee. In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire.

Key Responsibilities
Market Analysis & Opportunity Development

Conduct research on aerospace, defense, and government procurement trends to identify new business opportunities.

Analyze market data and customer feedback to pinpoint areas for growth and expansion in these sectors.

Develop strategic plans and forecasts to align with company goals and drive business development efforts.

Track competitor activity and market trends to inform strategic decisions.
Business Development & Client Relationships

Develop and implement strategies to target new clients and strengthen relationships with existing customers.

Build and maintain relationships with key decision-makers in the aerospace, defense, and government sectors.

Act as the main point of contact for new business opportunities and lead the proposal process.

Collaborate with customers to understand their needs and ensure that proposals meet their expectations.
Proposal & Contract Development

Work with internal teams (Sales, Engineering, Quality, Finance, and Operations) to develop tailored proposals for clients.

Ensure proposals meet client specifications and comply with relevant regulations.

Negotiate terms and pricing with clients, ensuring alignment with company policies and goals.
Customer Engagement & Project Execution

Maintain strong customer relationships through regular communication and follow-through.

Manage multiple business development projects, ensuring timely and successful delivery.

Coordinate with internal teams to ensure projects are executed according to client specifications, timelines, and quality standards.

Track project progress and provide regular updates to stakeholders.
Leadership & Strategic Collaboration

Collaborate with senior management to define and execute business development strategies.

Support the Business Unit Manager with decision-making and long-term growth planning.

Participate in leadership development programs with the potential to grow into more senior roles within the company.
Qualifications & experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in business development, sales, or marketing, ideally with exposure to the aerospace, defense, or government sectors (experience in other technical industries is also valued).
- Experience with proposal development, contract negotiation, and market research.
- A solid understanding of technical products and the ability to learn and apply industry-specific knowledge quickly.
- Familiarity with government procurement processes (e.g., ITAR, FAR) is a plus but not required.
- Ability to manage complex client requirements and collaborate across multiple teams.
Skills & Competencies

Technical acumen in product design, manufacturing, and Application.

Strong market analysis and customer insight skills, with an ability to spot new business opportunities.

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to foster relationships and effectively collaborate with internal teams.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and experience with CRM tools for tracking and managing opportunities.

Leadership potential with a desire to grow into senior roles within the organization.

Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
Additional Requirements

Travel: Up to 65% travel required, both domestically and internationally, to support business development efforts and meet with clients.
Physical Demands & Work Environment
- Typical office environment, with controlled temperatures.
- May be exposed to routine noise from the manufacturing plant floor.

Must be able to sit, stand, reach, bend, and grasp equipment, tools, or inventory.

Must be able to wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as necessary when working in areas on the manufacturing plant floor
