Cardiac Device Clinician I

Responsible for assisting physicians with device follow-up of pacemakers and defibrillators as frequently as outlined in these policies including a typed report of the information collected from the device. Will be accountable for arrhythmia monitoring and ambulatory blood pressure monitoring by downloading information and forwarding it to providers for evaluation.

  • Apply Holter and Event Monitors.
  • Download, scan and result Holter and Event Monitors.
  • Analyzes Holters with thorough knowledge of cardiac arrythmias
  • EMR office filing for device alerts, reports, and physiological monitoring and in office device checks.
  • Maintain equipment including Holter’s and Device Programmers.
  • Maintain PaceArt database with patient remote in-home monitoring and in office device checks.
  • Identify rhythm disturbances and device malfunction and report to appropriate physician.
  • Assist during office visits with pacemaker, ICD, loop recorder testing and adjustments as directed by providers.
  • Competent interrogation, programming and troubleshooting of 4 major device brands, Boston Scientific, Abbott (SJM), Medtronic, and Biotronik
  • Perform patient education and triage calls within the scope of the Device Clinic (remote monitoring, device function and Holter/event monitoring).
  • Accurately generate and process device reports, Holter reports and event monitor reports to EMR.
  • Maintains billing spreadsheets and ensures accuracy through PVMC and KRMC for all tests ordered through the device clinic
  • Works closely with billing and informatics to ensure functionally of EMR and accuracy of charges.
  • Ensure all device reports have been sent to appropriate physician to read as well as the ordering physicians receives a copy of report ordered.
  • Basic scheduling and filing
  • Knowledge of heart rhythms and the flows of each device site, paceart, and meditech, basic device triage (patient symptoms to be sent to nurses)
  • Pulls daily schedule

Education/experience

  • Minimum education requirement: High School Graduate.
  • Preferred experience: 2 years working in a medical practice.
  • BLS Certified and consistently maintained while working in patient care.
  • Certified Cardiac Device Specialist preferred.
