Community Birth and Doula Integration Support Specialist – (2500038E)
The Division of Pregnancy, Infancy and Early Childhood (DPIE) under the Massachusetts Department of Public Health (DPH) is seeking a dynamic Community Birth and Doula Integration Support Specialist to play an essential role in advancing maternal health equity by supporting the growth and integration of the doula workforce across the Commonwealth. This is a unique opportunity to shape innovative, community-driven initiatives that uplift birthing people and families. With a focus on project coordination, certification support, and workforce development, you will bridge policy and practice, supporting doulas through training access, partnership building, and strategic planning efforts that promote sustainability, cultural responsiveness, and systemic change.
You will collaborate closely with diverse stakeholders, including community-based organizations, training programs, and public health partners, to strengthen and diversify the doula workforce. From overseeing certification processes to co-leading strategic integration in healthcare and community settings, you will contribute meaningfully to shaping maternal and child health outcomes. This role is ideal for someone passionate about reproductive justice, systems change, and working at the intersection of public health and community empowerment.

Minimum Entrance Requirements:
Applicants must have at least (A) three years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, professional or paraprofessional experience in social work, social casework, health care administration, public health program administration, hospital administration, or in program administration or program management, and (B) of which at least one year must have been in a professional capacity, or (C) any equivalent combination of the required experience and the substitutions below.
Substitutions:
I. A Bachelor’s degree with a major in social work, health care administration, hospital administration, public health or health services administration may be substituted for a maximum of two years of the required (A) experience.*
II. A Graduate degree with a major in social work, health care administration, hospital administration, public health or health services administration may be substituted for the required experience.*
Special Requirements: Based on assignment, possession of a current and valid Massachusetts Motor Vehicle Operator’s License.
Salary placement is determined by a combination of factors, including the candidate’s years of directly related experience and education, and alignment with our internal compensation structure as set forth by the Human Resources Division’s Hiring Guidelines. For all bargaining unit positions (non-management), compensation is subject to the salary provisions outlined in the applicable collective bargaining agreement and will apply to placement within the appropriate salary range.
