Construction Inspectors in Charleston, West Virginia

Job Title: Construction Inspector Location: Bluefield / Princeton, WV Area Job Overview: A well-established firm with over 110 years of experience in infrastructure and building design is seeking WVTRET II or III Construction Inspectors. This is an opportunity to be part of a people-focused, project-driven team dedicated to quality work and innovative design. Responsibilities: Perform daily construction management and inspection services for various WVDOH and locality transportation projects. Conduct field inspections to ensure contractor compliance with contract documents. Prepare daily and weekly reports on work accomplished. Perform materials testing and maintain testing logs. Review periodic pay estimates for accuracy with the contractor. Assist engineers by preparing sketches and assembling data for project modifications. Maintain diaries and reports on work progress and deficiencies. Perform complex mathematical calculations. Review contractor schedules, including initial CPM and monthly updates. Maintain communication with all project stakeholders, including owners and field staff, ensuring active engagement throughout the construction process. Required Qualifications: High School Diploma or State Equivalency Certificate. Certification as, or eligibility to certify as, a WVTRET Level II in the WV Transportation Engineering Technician (WVTRET) Certification program. Basic computer proficiency (Microsoft Word & Excel). Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Strong work ethic and willingness to learn. Training will be provided for the right candidate. Availability to work nights and overtime as needed. Preferred Qualifications: Associates Degree or higher in engineering, technology, construction, or a related field. Certification as, or eligibility to certify as, WVTRET Level III or higher. Experience in highway construction inspection (entry-level to senior level). Experience with WVDOH roadway and bridge construction projects and pavement rehabilitation projects. Prior experience working with the West Virginia Division of Highways (WVDOH). Familiarity with SiteManager and WVDOH Materials Certifications (e.g., aggregate sampling, Portland Cement concrete inspection, soil and aggregate compaction, asphalt field compaction).
