PURPOSE:

This position is responsible for coordinating the transportation of all inbound and outbound shipments and reports directly to the Transportation Supervisor.

KEY OBJECTIVES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Determines the most economical method for shipping and receiving orders by taking into consideration freight rates, customer requests/preferences, i.e. TS truck, and back haul opportunities, etc.
  • Generate and publish a delivery and shipment schedule
  • Reconcile freight issues such as demurrage, fuel surcharges and billing discrepancies
  • Track and record service provider statistics, i.e. on schedule, ability to accommodate customers, etc.
  • Initiate Preventive Actions as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

REQUIRED education/EXPERIENCES:

  • Associate degree or equivalent from two-year College or technical school
  • 2+ years in a transportation coordinator role or related experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with changing concrete variables with limited supervision

PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCES:

  • Previous SAP and/or JDE experience; other ERP software experience a plus
