- DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Corrections Utility Plant Operator, you will be responsible for supervising inmates and maintaining security while operating and maintaining boiler equipment and generating medium-pressure steam for heating and hot water needs for the facility. Your duties will involve monitoring and maintaining auxiliary equipment such as feed water pumps and chemical feed pumps, as well as testing and maintaining the boiler water and water softening system. You will also be responsible for keeping logs of all tests performed and ensuring an adequate inventory of water treatment chemicals and supplies. It is crucial that all work is done in accordance with safe operating procedures to ensure the safety of all individuals.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:- Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
- Work hours are 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM, 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM, and 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM; rotating shifts and days off; with a paid lunch.
- This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
- Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $47,925.00 (before taxes). However, a higher salary may be established in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Three years of experience in the operation, maintenance, and repair of a steam or hot water generating plant, or a steam and electric generating plant; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Additional Requirements:
- Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
