What you will be doing?
This position is contingent upon contract award. We are currently pursuing a proposal and are seeking qualified candidates to include in our submission and identify candidates for future hiring needs on the program once awarded.

Core Knowledge & Skills: Manages routing/switching and network security, multiOS environments, virtualization (e.g., VMware/HyperV), core cloud services, and release of IaC via pipelines; automates common admin tasks.

Work & Complexity: Plans and executes upgrades/migrations, configures network devices and services, responds to incidents, monitors performance, and manages resources.

Quality & Independence: Implements proactive monitoring, produces accurate documentation, improves processes, and works independently within project scope.

Teamwork & Communication: Partners with peer teams, shares knowledge, coordinates changes, reports progress, and supports/train users.

Consulting & Engagement: Advises internal teams on solutions and tools, evaluates technologies, recommends optimizations, and coordinates vendor support.
As your initial project assignment, you will support the unique needs of our client as a Databricks Platform Engineer.
Introduction
This role provides expert-level administrative and operational support for Databricks, including workspace setup, Unity Catalog management, secure data access, and MLOps enablement. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in Databricks networking, Azure integrations, identity management, and Terraform automation to support scalable data science and GenAI initiatives across teams.
Responsibilities:

Creating catalogs, connections to source systems, granting catalog access and supporting data access issue

Manage workspace access, cluster policies, and Unity Catalog for secure data governance

Support MLOps workflows including model training, deployment, and monitoring

Enable data science teams with scalable compute, notebook orchestration, and pipeline automation

Provide onboarding, documentation, and operational support for GenAI use cases

Onboard new teams, such as the research team, to Databricks by creating workspaces, catalogs, schemas, and compute in line with EA best practices

Provide active onboarding and orientation support to new teams and new team members to ensure minimal time to productivity within the Databricks platform
Location and Travel details

Required for this opportunity

Expertise in Databricks networking and compute architecture

Strong understanding of identity and access management within Databricks

Proficiency in Azure networking and resource integration (Key Vault, Data Lake Storage, OpenAI)

Advanced Terraform skills for infrastructure automation

experience with MLOps workflows and machine learning lifecycle management

Familiarity with secure data governance and production data handling across workspaces
At AIS, we are committed to offering competitive and fair compensation that reflects the skills, experience, and contributions of each team member.
The targeted base salary range for this role is $89,000-$134,000 per year. Please note that this range is provided as a guideline and the final offer will be based on several factors, including but not limited to, skillset and competencies, level of experience, education, certifications, and location.
