Job Description

OU HSC is one of only four comprehensive academic health centers in the nation with seven professional colleges. We are currently building world-class institutes for the treatment of diabetes and cancer.

Duties:

  • Provides assistance to the clinic by being the liaison between the student and the patient.
  • Schedules appointments for the patient with DS2, DS3 and DS4 students in all pre-doctoral clinics.
  • Financially counsels’ patients with their treatment plan and payment expectations
  • Provides information for charitable funds when deemed appropriate and sends the request to the Business office
  • Counsels patients on clinic attendance and protocol for being in a student program
  • Maintains comprehensive patient records and charts to ensure proper documentation
  • Runs daily, weekly and monthly reports for the clinic and patients assigned to the clinic
  • Collects surveys monthly from patients that have treatment in process
  • Provides support to the students on patient management with scheduling and financial needs and clinic protocols
  • Greets and check-ins patients, updates demographics and insurance during clinic session then checks them out and collects fees and makes the next planned appointment for the patient and student
  • Collaborates with Group Practice Director regarding student management and patient management
  • Attends weekly meetings regarding clinic management, changes with protocol and scheduling
  • Maintains records for outside referrals and processes letters to the referring doctor
  • Manages concerns from patients, students and faculty
  • Reports concerns when needed to the Office of Patient Management
  • Verifies codes and fees on each patient seen during the clinic session
  • Reconciles end of the day funds collected and runs a report which is turned in to the Business office daily
  • Reviews each student’s planner weekly for scheduling requests
  • Covers other clinics if and as needed

Job Requirements

Education: Bachelor’s degree, AND:

  • 12 months experience in an outpatient clinic performing related duties

Equivalency/Substitution: Will accept 48 months of experience in an outpatient clinic performing related duties in lieu of the Bachelor’s degree for a total of 60 months related experience. Will accept an Associate’s Degree and 24 months of experience in lieu of the Bachelor’s degree for a total of 36 months related experience.

Skills:

  • Working knowledge of clinic procedures
  • Working knowledge of billing and coding processes
  • Ability to use a computer and calculator
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, and Word)
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work as a team member
  • Ability to complete tasks in an efficient and timely manner
  • Must be detail oriented
  • Ability to multitask, be organized, and self-motivated
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing

  • Physical: Sit for prolonged periods. Communicate effectively and listen. Use of a computer and telephone. Stand, bend, stoop, and reach.
  • Environmental: Standard Clinic Environment. Exposure to infectious diseases
