Director of Family Driven Practice – Worcester – (2500033P)
Description
The Department of Mental Health, Central Mass Area Office Child, Youth and Family Division (CYF) in Worcester is seeking a dynamic Coordinator of Family Driven Practice (CFDP) to support system change and develop a community connected treatment system which is strengths based, family driven, youth guided and culturally relevant. The CFDP will serve as the link within the Intensive Community Services (ICS) system as well as through DMH and other community-based services supporting family voice.
Please Note: This is a full-time 40-hour position. The schedule for this position is 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday. The days off will be Saturday and Sunday.
Duties and Responsibilities (These duties and responsivities are not all inclusive):
Programmatic/Practice Support:
- Provides feedback and consultation regarding family driven practice, as well as learning about systemic barriers and promoting promising practices.
- Provide consultation regarding Family Driven Practice to DMH area office staff as requested.
- Provide consultation on complex family-provider challenging scenarios.
- Facilitates collaboration between service providers and DMH area office staff in support of Family Driven practice.
- Collaborates with DMH statewide programs’ Family Service Leaders to bridge these programs with other services.
- Supports the integration of Family Partners in DMH service system.
Quality Improvement:
- Serves as subject matter expert through consultation to providers, state agencies and other collaterals to address systemic barriers and promote collaborative family-centered approach across service delivery and interfacing with youth and families.
- Leads, manages and coordinates area-based activities that promote youth-guided and family driven practice in DMH CYF services.
- Facilitates cross-training, technical assistance, and collaborative learning among DMH service providers, DMH staff and other stakeholders.
- Develops training tools, guiding documents, or other learning aids to support family informed decision making and Family Driven and Youth Guided Practice across DMH CYF service providers and DMH CYF Agency staff.
- Participates in contract monitoring for all Area procurements and monitors provider performance indicators related to family driven and youth guided practice
- Provides feedback and recommendations to CYF Area Director regarding practice concerns
- Participates in Statewide Quality Management activities, including Rehab Options, Quality Improvement process and other activities (such as surveys to gather information, outcomes, etc.).
- Participates in area or statewide workgroups to provide family-centered perspective.
- Contributes to DMH CYF strategic planning for Family Driven Work
- Develops, implements and supports future DMH family driven initiatives
- Facilitates and manages the DMH CYF Family Advisory Council, as needed
- May collaborate with the Director of Recovery to promote the integration of lived experience throughout the service delivery system
- Provides family-driven practice consultation and training to the DMH and Adult provider service delivery system

Required Qualifications:
- Ability to supervise, including planning and assigning work according to the nature of the job to be accomplished, the capabilities of direct reports and available resources controlling work through periodic reviews and/or evaluations, determine the need for disciplinary action and recommending disciplinary action.
- Ability to work independently, resolve conflicts problem solve and make decisions.
- Lived experience as a parent/caregiver of a child with significant behavioral health needs.
- Senior Family Partner or equivalent management role in family support services.
- Personal and/or work experience with residential services.
- Demonstrated skills in problem-solving, coaching and training on family-driven care.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Qualifications
First consideration will be given to those applicants that apply within the first 14 days.
Applicants must have a high school diploma or equivalent and (A) Peer certification through a recognized Certified Specialist Program and at least (B) three years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, experience as a Mental Health Coordinator in the mental health or health care field, of which (C) at least one year must have been in a supervisory or professional capacity.
Based on assignment to a Family Support Specialist position applicants must have a high school diploma or equivalent and (A) completion of an approved Professional Parent Advisory League (PAL) entry-level training as a Family Support Specialist and (B) at least three years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, experience as a Family Support Specialist in the mental health or health care field, of which (C) at least one year must have been in a supervisory or professional capacity.
Incumbents may be required to have a current and valid motor vehicle driver’s license at a class level specific to assignment.
Substitutions:
I. An Associate’s degree in psychology, human services, mental health or a closely
related field may be substituted for six months of the required (B) experience.
II. A Bachelor’s degree or higher in psychology, human services, mental health or a
closely related field may be substituted for one year of the required (B) experience.
Salary placement is determined by a combination of factors, including the candidate’s years of directly related experience and education, and alignment with our internal compensation structure as set forth by the Human Resources Division’s Hiring Guidelines. For all bargaining unit positions (non-management), compensation is subject to the salary provisions outlined in the applicable collective bargaining agreement and will apply to placement within the appropriate salary range.
