The Facilities Standards and Design Consultant supports the Standards Team by developing and implementing design standards and space planning strategies that enhance the employee experience and support operational excellence. The Facilities Standards & Design Consultant is a strong communicator and problem-solver who is excited to contribute to the strategic planning of our facilities and help guide future development and optimization.

Responsibilities

  • Develop research and analysis of design standards, planning standards and trends to support teams and leadership with strategic decision-making and future facility development
  • Assist in analyzing space utilization and preparing strategic recommendations for departmental space programs, moves/restacks, Master Plans and other Facilities projects
  • Support Corporate Facilities projects by participating in stakeholder meetings, reviewing drawings, conducting space planning studies, providing master planning input, and selecting furniture, fixtures, and equipment
  • Identify opportunities for improvement and optimization in alignment with Company business and sustainability objectives.
  • Manage the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of Southwest Facility design and planning standards, ensuring alignment with the Company’s mission, values, and sustainability objectives
  • Participate in project meetings, quality assurance reviews, and coordination with vendors and internal teams, ensuring adherence to standards and best practices.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including Leadership, internal Customers, and external vendors.
  • Prepare materials and contribute to presentations for internal customers, key stakeholders and Senior Leadership.
  • Support internal teams to develop, customize, and maintain facility master files, Standards libraries, Revit family creation, best practices, and updates to the Company space management system
  • Develop and manage document control workflows and support the organization of Standards document repository, including content development, content deployment, and communications.
  • Develop strategic process improvements to projects, project workflows and steer implementation
  • Drive internal and cross-departmental initiatives in support of Corporate Facilities planning strategies and continuous process improvement.
  • Effectively manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously, ensuring deadlines are met and deliverables are of high quality.
  • May perform other job duties as directed by Employee’s Leaders
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Skilled in airport and/or corporate campus design, with knowledge of commercial design terminology, furnishings, materials, finishes and building codes
  • Ability to independently and collaboratively lead initiatives, applying project management expertise, to coordinate team efforts, manage timelines and resources, and ensure successful delivery of outcomes aligned with business objectives.
  • Skilled in using design tools including Autodesk AEC software (AutoCAD, Revit, ACC), Bluebeam Revu, Adobe Creative Cloud and Sketchup and knowledge advanced knowledge of architectural and/or interior design and construction practices.
  • Skilled in design techniques, tools and principles involved in the production of precision technical plans, construction documents, design standards and BIM.
  • Ability to measure and analyze effectiveness of products and solutions through methods like site observations, space utilization studies, and Employee surveys.
  • Ability to balance a wide range of assignments and deliver high-quality results.
  • Ability to assume a high level of responsibility, capable of working independently on assigned tasks while collaborating effectively within a cross-functional team environment.
  • Advanced ability to build and maintain relationships, including cross functional alliances inside and outside the Corporate Facilities function and develop high level of confidence and trust from other departments and Leadership.
  • Skilled in problem-solving, strategic decision-making, and time management.
  • Ability to apply logical reasoning and analytical techniques to assess situations, anticipate challenges, and develops proactive strategies
education

  • Required: High School Diploma or GED
Experience

  • Advanced level experience, seasoned and specialized knowledge in:
    • Commercial architecture, interior design, design trends and construction projects
    • Understanding of computers, design technologies and related applications including the BIM end-user experience
    • Evaluating stakeholder needs, utilization, growth forecasts, and employee requirements
    • Development of Facility Standards Documentation
    • Space planning techniques
    • Reading and interpreting design and construction documents
    • Creating tailored Executive-level presentation materials (Power Point decks, reports) and presenting to upper-level management
  • Preferred: Expertise in commercial architecture, interior design, and space planning. Aviation design experience is a bonus.

  • Preferred: Proficiency with design tools like AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, Adobe Creative Cloud, and SketchUp.

  • Preferred: Experience with BIM and interpreting design/construction documents.

Licensing/Certification

  • Must be able to obtain a SIDA (Secured Identification Display Area) badge and meet all local airport requirements
Physical Abilities

  • Ability to perform work duties from limited space workstation/desk/office area for extended periods of time
  • Ability to communicate and interact with others in the English language to meet the demands of the job
  • Ability to use a computer and other office productivity tools with sufficient speed and accuracy to meet the demands of the job
Other Qualifications

  • Must maintain a well-groomed appearance per Company appearance standards as described in established guidelines
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must meet confidentiality expectations as to confidential, proprietary and sensitive Company information
  • Must be able to comply with Company attendance standards as described in established guidelines
  • Air travel with occasional overnight stays required

Pay & Benefits:

Competitive market salary from $95,750 per year to $106,400 per year* depending on qualifications and experience. For eligible Leadership and individual contributor roles, additional bonus opportunities are available and awarded at the discretion of the company.
