We’re looking for a strategic and creative thinker to lead innovation across our beverage, food, lobby, and packaging pipeline. This role will be responsible for identifying consumer and product trends, uncovering whitespace opportunities, and partnering cross-functionally to bring new product innovation territories to life. You’ll play a key role in shaping the future of our portfolio by driving bold ideas, vetting product innovation territories through consumer research and small-scale testing, and ensuring our pipeline reflects evolving consumer needs.

As a group manager, product – Menu Pipeline Innovation and Strategy, you will…

  • Pipeline Innovation Strategy and Development

o Lead the strategy and development of a multi-year innovation pipeline for beverage, food, lobby, and packaging.

o Identify and prioritize early market, whitespace opportunities through consumer insights, market analysis, and competitive benchmarking.

o Determine how Starbucks wins in prioritized early market, whitespace innovation territories.

  • Trendspotting and Insights

o Monitor emerging global and domestic trends in beverage and food that will have a material impact on the Starbucks business

o Translate insights into actionable product innovation territories and concepts

  • Incubation Testing

o Responsible for leading our incubation store network that is focused on iterative testing of prototypes to better understand product concept desirability and pressure test innovation territory design principles and ways in.

  • Cross-Functional Leadership and Collaboration

o Partner with Research and Development to define design principles and ways in for identified innovation territories.

o Partner with internal and external research teams to develop research briefs and learning plans

o Partner closely with Product Category Business teams to take action on product innovation territories and author strategic briefs for products at scale.

  • Leadership, Team Development, and Culture Building

o Lead and inspire a high-performing team, providing mentorship, guidance, and development opportunities.

o Foster a culture of creativity, innovation, and future-forward thinking.

We’d love to hear from people with:

  • 5+ years of experience in pipeline innovation development and strategy within the retail industry.
  • Strong understanding of consumer insights and market dynamics.
  • A passion for customer experience and a deep curiosity about what’s next in beverage, food, and culture.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage complex projects.
  • Creative thinking skills with a bias for action and a passion for beverage and food trends.
  • Excellent communication and strategic storytelling skills with the ability to influence senior leadership and drive alignment.
  • 3+ years of experience leading and developing teams, with demonstrated success in managing people, developing talent, and fostering high performance.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience; MBA preferred.

  • If you are working in CA, CO, IL, LA, ME, MA, NE, ND or RI, you will accrue vacation up to a maximum of 120 hours (190 in CA) for roles below director and 200 hours (316 in CA) for roles at director or above. For roles in other states, you will be granted vacation time starting at 120 hours annually for roles below director and 200 hours annually for roles director and above.

The actual base pay offered to the successful candidate will be based on multiple factors, including but not limited to job-related knowledge/skills, experience, geographical location, and internal equity. At Starbucks, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at the high end of the range for their role, and compensation decisions are dependent upon the facts and circumstances of each position and candidate.
