Human Resources Specialist
This position requires an active TS/Sensitive Compartmental Information (SCI) clearance.
Cherokee Insights is seeking a Human Resources Specialist to support our government client.
Compensation & Benefits:
Estimated Starting Salary Range for Human Resources Specialist: $100,000-$115,000. Pay commensurate with experience.
Full time benefits include Medical, Dental, Vision, 401K, and other possible benefits as provided. Benefits are subject to change with or without notice.
Human Resources Specialist Responsibilities Include:
- Execute human resources functions to include but not limited to processing unit arrivals, pay inquiries, unit slotting, unit attachments, board validations and pay entitlements.
- Coordinate and synchronize daily operations of and provide Commander with situational awareness of unit readiness.
- Coordinate with internal and external elements to facilitate operations using all communications methods.
- Research regulations, policies, SOPs, or other pertinent documents to inform decision makers, commanders, and customers.
- Support HR business process standardization, talent management, and HR operations, while obtaining and adhering to changing project requirements; provide feedback to influence the continuous improvement of HR services
- Assist the activity in ensuring HR core competencies and key functions are properly supported and executed; partner closely with other members in administering HR programs, processes, standards, and strategic HR goals.
- Prepare, staff, and distribute official correspondence and presentations.
- Develop and refine activity policies and standard operating procedures.
- Develop and deliver briefings, strategies, reports, plans, meeting notes, presentations, etc. to Government Team Lead, as required.
- Facilitate travel requests to include preparation and staffing of Standard Forms.
- Perform other related duties as requested to support S1 missions.
- Assist in processing government travel as a reviewing official within the activity Personnel (S1) Staff
- Have access and permissions to serve as a reviewing official within the Defense Travel System (DTS) and Orders/Vouchers processes; assist the activity S1 in reviewing travel vouchers (DD Form 1351-2)
- Provide ongoing assessment of processes to identify areas in need of improvement; ensure data integrity and assume special projects, as assigned.
- Assist in providing timely and accurate essential personnel services that include civilian awards and decorations, evaluation reports, transfers and discharges, identification documents, leaves and passes, line of duty investigations, coordination of military pay and entitlements and other administrative actions.
- Perform full range of tasks relative to military personnel services, administering human resources and Joint Travel Regulations (JTR) issues.
- Assist service members in preparing paperwork related to HR actions; review finished forms for completeness and adequacy; contact individual service members or supervisors by telephone or email to resolve questions before processing final actions; provide information on HR systems, processes and procedures.
- Prepare PCS orders, and process and expedite claims for authorized allowances and benefits with supporting documentation.
- Respond to customers’ inquiries regarding travel allowances, PCS orders, and travel and transfer entitlements.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned
Human Resources Specialist Experience, education, Skills, Abilities requested:
- Active TS/SCI security clearance
- Minimum of five years military/government work experience relating to operations support or management at a Battalion or higher level unit.
- Minimum of two years’ experience in work related to military personnel, human resources, or office management.
- Minimum of five years’ experience in DoD or Army operations support to a Battalion or higher level unit.
- Minimum of five years of experience in military correspondence, policies or procedures; organizing workload; tracking tools and master suspense logs; staffing, and providing customer service.
- Expert with MS Office 365 and/or legacy software suite.
- Experience utilizing automated Human Resources software programs (i.e. IPPS-A, IPERMS, SAHRMS) to perform duties such as research reports, tracking, and provide guidance
- Excellent customer service, oral and written communication skills, and interpersonal skills with the ability to manage
- Must pass pre-employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal
