Kennel Technician, VSB

Veterinary Specialists of Birmingham located in beautiful Birmingham, AL is searching for part-time Kennel Technicians to join our team!

Compensation:

  • $14 per hour

Anticipated Schedule:

  • 8:00AM – 5:00PM, Saturday and Sunday

Essential Duties include:

  • Ensure animals are housed in a clean, comfortable environment, maintaining bedding, cages and runs
  • Clean & disinfect animal housing areas, walk yards, and common spaces
  • Follow proper protocols for disposal of waste and cleaning of animal supplies, bedding, and food dishes
  • Maintain clean examination rooms and lobby area
  • Walking and supervision of animals in designated walk yards
  • Assist the veterinary staff with examinations upon request
  • Other duties assigned by the hospital manager, lead technician, or shift supervisor

Qualifications:

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well in a team environment
  • Previous experience with companion animals and a commitment to patient well-being
  • Strong passion for animal welfare & a genuine interest in veterinary medicine
  • Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb, as well as manipulate (lift, carry, & move) up to 50 pounds unassisted
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, emergency setting, often under stressful conditions
