As a Lead Electrical Engineer here at Honeywell, you will play a key role in leading and managing electrical engineering projects. You will be responsible for overseeing the design, development, and implementation of power supply designs. The lead engineer will provide technical expertise, guidance, and support to the team, ensuring the successful execution of projects. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to drive innovation, improve processes, and achieve project objectives. You will report directly to our Platform Electrical Engineering Manager, and you will work out of our Clearwater, FL location on a hybrid 3/2 work schedule.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead and manage power supply printed board assemblies / circuit card assemblies electrical engineering projects from conception to completion
  • Provide technical expertise, guidance, and support to the team members
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to ensure successful project execution
  • Design and develop high reliability power electronics, including isolated and non-isolated DC-DC converters (power stages, magnetics, control) and EMI filters
  • Conduct feasibility studies and analyze technical requirements
  • Analyzing and lab testing analog and DC-DC conversion circuits
  • Manage project budgets, timelines, and resources
  • Supports or executes one or more complex Printed Board Assembly (PBAs) development assignments, including supporting system trades, setting, and negotiating circuit requirements derived from system requirements, developing concepts/architectures, completing design, analysis, and testing in an engineering laboratory setting.
  • Follows and tailors best design practices and guidelines to ensure efficiency on given project task while ensuring design compliance and producibility.

YOU MUST HAVE

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Electrical Engineering (Master’s or Ph.D. preferred)
  • 6+ years of experience in hardware electrical engineering
  • Proven track record of successfully leading complex electrical engineering projects
  • Strong knowledge of electrical design principles and practices
  • Proficiency in electrical design software and tools
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Due to export control regulations, this position requires a US Citizenship

  • Expertise in specialized areas of electrical engineering (e.g., power systems, digital systems, etc.)
  • Experience performing and leading electrical hardware PBA level requirements development, preliminary and detailed design, design verification, and qualification spanning a high mix of moderate complexity commercial, defense, and space products and systems, including completion of worst case analysis.
  • Knowledge of MIL-STD-704 (power quality) and MIL-STD-1275 (power quality).
  • Experience designing module or box level high reliability power electronics, including designs with various isolated and non-isolated DC to DC converters.
  • Experience supporting box or module designs to ensure we meet the industry standards of EMI/EMC of RTCA DO-160, Boeing D6, Airbus ABD, MIL-STD 461, MIL STD-810 by reviewing and translating high level EMI/EMC requirements to the system and circuit level, creating control plans design guidelines, and testing methodologies, and developing simulation models for the analysis of interference coupling mechanisms, shielding integrity, and circuit/cable interface isolation to mitigate and control conducted/radiated emissions and susceptibility threats.
  • Proficiency with Mentor Graphics Xpedition Enterprise Design Flow (i.e. Designer, Constraint Manager, HyperLynx Signal Integrity, Power Integrity, and Layout), Mathcad, Timing Designer, MS Excel, PSPICE and LTSpice. Demonstrated experience designing, simulating, analyzing, and verifying design performance to requirements.
  • Ability to generate Printed Wiring Board (PWB) layout constraint guidelines, oversee the layout and fabrication of the design.
  • Demonstrated experience performing PBA design verification and qualification.
  • Knowledgeable in project estimation, planning, cost and schedule management
  • Able to communicate effectively and can clearly and concisely convey subtle or complex messages to a variety of audiences, both written and verbal
  • Publication record and active participation in industry conferences and forums
