SUMMARY

SHRM is seeking a Manager, Content Operations & Publishing to oversee our content strategy and publishing operations, reporting directly to the Director, Content Strategy. This role is vital for orchestrating content creation, distribution, and governance across various digital platforms, aligning with SHRM’s business goals and enhancing user engagement. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the integration of content strategy with technology-driven distribution processes to ensure content reaches its target audience effectively and efficiently. Responsibilities:

Strategic Content Operations:

  • Lead the development and execution of content strategies that are seamlessly integrated with SHRM’s business objectives and publishing technologies.

  • Ensure comprehensive content coverage that addresses user needs effectively across all digital platforms.

Content Systems and Architecture Management:

  • Oversee the design of logical content structures and advanced information architectures to ensure intuitive navigation and content findability.

  • Champion the development and maintenance of taxonomies, metadata schemas, and content hierarchies to enhance content discovery and retrieval.

Publishing and Distribution Oversight:

  • Manage the technology platforms crucial for content creation, distribution, and analysis.

  • Oversee content distribution across digital channels such as websites, email marketing, and other digital media, ensuring effective reach and engagement.

Content Governance and Quality Assurance:

  • Develop stringent content governance processes and guidelines to uphold content quality, accuracy, and compliance with brand standards.

  • Lead content performance analysis, utilizing metrics to drive improvements and ensure content effectiveness across channels.

User Experience and Engagement:

  • Collaborate closely with content creators to develop engaging content-driven experiences.

  • Utilize insights from user research and usability testing to optimize content and enhance user journeys.

Technology Integration and Optimization:

  • Ensure effective utilization of CMS and other content-related technologies.

  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies and digital marketing trends to continuously improve content delivery and impact.

Leadership and Team Development:

  • Provide leadership, guidance, and training to the content operations and publishing teams.

  • Cultivate a culture of excellence and continuous improvement within the content team.

Analytics and Reporting:

  • Monitor and report on content performance, delivering actionable insights and recommendations for optimization.

  • Lead projects to enhance content accessibility, user experience, and engagement on digital platforms.

Professional Development and Industry Engagement:

  • Pursue professional development opportunities to enhance expertise in content strategy and digital publishing.

  • Engage with industry professionals to stay updated with the latest trends and technologies.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience Requirements

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, Business, or a related field.

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in content strategy, content management, digital publishing, or a related field, with proven leadership experience.

  • Proven track record of managing content technology stacks and optimizing content distribution across digital channels.

  • Extensive experience with CMS, SEO, and digital marketing.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Strong understanding of content marketing strategies, market segmentation, and the ability to execute content projects from conception through execution. 

  • Strong understanding of content operations, content management systems (CMS), SEO, social media platforms, digital marketing tools, and analytics platforms. Expert knowledge of Marketo and Adobe Experience Manager a plus.

  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret data, identify trends, and translate insights into actionable content strategies.

  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Advanced skills in strategic planning, content structuring, and project management.

  • Exceptional communication and collaboration skills, capable of working with teams across different departments and levels of the organization.

  • Ability to stay ahead of digital trends and adapt strategies to ensure SHRM’s content remains relevant and impactful.

  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and a keen interest in continuous learning and adapting to new technologies.

  • Passionate about SHRM’s mission and committed to advancing the HR profession.

Additional Notes

Physical Requirements

  • Capable of performing essential duties with reasonable accommodations.

  • Work involves sitting, talking, hearing, and typing, with visual acuity required for keyboard usage, data analysis, and computer terminal operation.

  • Occasional light lifting may be necessary.

Work environment

  • Work is primarily conducted in a professional office setting, utilizing standard office equipment.

  • Expected office presence of 3 days per week.

  • Minimal travel requirements, less than 10%

The hiring range for this position is $105,000 to $125,000 per year. This range is an estimate, and the actual salary may vary based on the candidate’s experience, skills, and qualifications. SHRM offers a competitive and comprehensive total rewards package.
