Manager, Creative Performance Training – TTS Production

Description

position Title

Manager, Creative Performance Training – TTS Production

Position Location

Burbank, CA and Hollywood, CA (Hybrid)

Position Overview

As the Training Lead for AI Text-to-Speech Dubbing, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and managing an end-to-end training and feedback program for freelance TTS editors and vendors. Leveraging your audio localization expertise and passion for innovation, you will mentor a global freelance workforce—ranging in experience—to master TTS editing for voice-over, audio description, and AI-based lip-sync dubbing.

You will assist in supervising the creative and performance-based aspects of data collection (recording and QC) to continually improve model output performance. Collaborating with other training team members, you’ll build scalable resources and frameworks across multiple languages. Working cross-functionally with Product, Audio, Talent Acquisition, Linguistic Quality, Audio Description, and Support teams, you will help define quality standards for both input and output, enhance technology adoption, and strengthen the performance of Deluxe’s localization community.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Attain TTS Super User status in Deluxe’s proprietary text-to-speech tools.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive training materials, including:
    • E-learning modules, written guides, and demo scripts.
    • TTS adaptation techniques for lip-sync and VO.
    • Phonology and pronunciation best practices.
    • Client guideline adherence.
    • Tool usage optimization and troubleshooting.
    • AI voice casting and performance strategies.
    • Audio Description standards.
  • Host live training sessions and provide structured feedback to TTS editors.
  • Maintain an up-to-date library of sample content to demonstrate quality expectations.
  • Define skill tiers aligned to Deluxe’s TTS product categories (VO, Lip Sync, AD).
  • Collaborate with the Linguistic Quality team to define competencies for TTS language leads.
  • Create “train-the-trainer” materials to support global scalability.
  • Coordinate with audio teams to define TTS-to-mixing handoff requirements.
  • Set benchmarks and stretch goals in partnership with stakeholders.
  • Work with language leads to develop quality evaluation metrics.
  • Provide recruitment teams with competency recommendations for onboarding.
  • Proactively identify workflow issues and recommend timely solutions.
  • Contribute to the creation and optimization of SOPs, SLAs, and KPIs.
  • Participate in user acceptance testing (UAT) and provide feedback for product development.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of client expectations and localization requirements.

What you Bring

Required:

  • Significant hands-on dubbing experience in one or more of the following roles: dubbing director, adaptor, recordist, editor, or mixer.
  • Proven experience mentoring, training, or coaching others.
  • Strong working knowledge of Pro Tools and the ability to communicate fluently in audio terminology.
  • Demonstrated ability to break down complex audio and linguistic concepts for diverse audiences.
  • Comfortable presenting in public and leading live training sessions.
  • Excellent collaboration skills with cross-functional teams.
  • Technologically curious, with a strong interest in emerging audio and AI-driven tools.
  • Willingness to work during Pacific Time (PST) morning hours.

Preferred:

  • Direct experience with AI-driven TTS workflows and tools.
  • Familiarity with machine translation (MT) principles and practices.
  • Understanding of acting quality in voice performances.
  • Experience operationalizing new workflows or technologies.
  • Experience coordinating with actors, directors, adaptors, linguists, or engineers across medium to large organizations and third-party vendors.
  • Track record of managing teams or overseeing multi-stakeholder projects.
  • Familiarity with other localization companies.

Bonus Skills and Background:

  • Multilingual proficiency—especially in Deluxe’s core dubbing languages.
  • Clear understanding of ADR and Dubbing recording processes and audio quality metrics.
  • Experience in dubbing-related editing, auditing, copywriting, reviewing, or back-translation.
  • Knowledge of the technical differences between dubbing and subtitling localization.
  • Background in the creative arts (e.g., music, writing, performing).
  • Academic or professional training in dubbing, subtitling, audiovisual localization, translation, or related fields.
  • Experience with terminology management systems or term-bases.

This is a hybrid position. The ideal candidate will be required to spend time on-site interacting with various Deluxe teams at both our Burbank and Hollywood locations.
