Our Lady of the Lake Mental Behavioral Health department is searching for a Part Time Mental Health Technician to assist with patients. The MHT provides health care staff support in the achievement of treatment protocols for patients and assists in ensuring a safe environment for patients and staff. The Mental Health Technician in this position serves as the key liaison in the ECU area.

Maintains consistent contact with the inpatient units’ staff members on pending admissions. Provides care to patients in a manner that considers patient safety, comfort, and the therapeutic environment. Demonstrates professional judgment in emergency situations by making appropriate decisions regarding patient health and well-being.
Maintains consistent contact with COPE team members regarding assessments needed in the ECU area. Maintains a secure and reliable clinical environment by assisting in the management of aggressive patients and monitoring patient movement throughout the area.
Assists in patient assessment, admission, or transfer in a caring and compassionate manner and strives to make the patient’s assessment and/or admission as pleasant as possible.
Accurately records all demographic information and completes admissions documentation for persons being admitted to an inpatient unit.
Promotes the quality and efficiency of his/her own performance through participation in staff educational programs, approved continuing education courses, and specialized skill training programs.
Provides positive relations in the ECU and with community members inquiring about assessments and information.
Serves as a liaison with the ECU access services representative by keeping them aware of information needed to expedite the admission process.
Coordinates arrangements for movement/transportation of admitted patients to the units.
Hours: three 8 hour shifts- Thurs/Friday/ and every other Sat/Sun

High School Graduate/Specialized Training
Skills:
Crisis Intervention Training within 90 days of employment.
Certification:
Active American Heart Association BLS certification
