Network Engineer

Working 100% onsite in Columbia MO

Position Overview:

An OT Network Engineer is responsible for guiding the selection, set up, and life cycle management of networking, communication, and control equipment for our clients manufacturing facility. This person will be responsible for diagnosing, troubleshooting, and resolving hardware and software issues as well as Re-IPing devices connected to manufacturing lines. Knowledge of storage, VLAN, vSphere, virtualization, Net PC’s, as well as experience with Commvault is crucial.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Scrape current permissions from servers and NetPCs on current client domain.
  • Configuring and maintaining switches, routers, firewalls, and other networking devices in the Operational Technology environment.
  • Ensuring proper VLAN segmentation for traffic isolation and security.
  • Continuously monitoring network performance, availability, and traffic patterns.
  • Accurately document existing group names and user IDs, ensuring all details are preserved during the migration.
  • Reapply permissions once devices are migrated to the new domain.
  • Work closely with other IT team members to ensure a smooth transition to the new domain.
  • Resolve any issues and perform Hypercare related to permissions, groups, and identities, during and after the migration process.
  • Conduct thorough audits of current Windows permissions, identifying and cataloging all Access Control Entries (ACEs).
  • Utilize tools and scripts (PowerShell) to extract and record permissions data.
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of the existing permission structures, including user roles, group memberships, and inherited permissions.
  • Design and implement strategies for reapplying permissions in the new domain, ensuring minimal disruption to user access.
  • Test and validate permissions post-migration to confirm they are correctly applied and functioning as intended.
  • Install, configure, and maintain desktop and laptop hardware and software, including operating systems, applications, and peripheral devices.
  • Maintain Dashboard Expectations for Exception & Standard WINTEL PC’s, ITSM (ServiceNow) tickets, Site Telecom, & PC/Server Vulnerabilities
  • Collaborate with other IT teams to resolve complex technical issues.
  • Document all technical support activities in the CMDB/ITSM ticketing system (ServiceNow).

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Proven experience with Windows and Linux OS environments.
  • Experience with domain migration projects preferred.
  • Familiarity with the new domain setup process preferred.
  • Experience supporting Remote Access management products.
  • Strong understanding of server and NetPC permissions.
  • Strong knowledge of Windows and Linux OS.
  • Strong knowledge of automation using PowerShell.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve permission-related issues.
  • Experience with (Zscaler, BPVPN, Palo Alto, CheckPoint, Cisco ASA Firewalls).
  • Experience with cloud technologies (AWS and Azure) – Preferred AWS Practitioner Certification
  • Experience with system administration scripting tasks in Perl, PowerShell, or VB Script
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 – $35.00/hr.
