We are responsible for the end-to-end digital and physical Guest experience for all technology & digital-led initiatives across the Attractions & Entertainment, Food & Beverage, Resorts & Transportation and Merchandise lines of business as well as other initiatives including MyDisneyExperience and Hey, Disney!
This role sits in the Disney Cruise Line organization within Technology & Digital for Disney Experiences. It works closely with Enterprise Technology and WDI from across the company.
The Network Engineer will report to the Senior Manager, Technology.
About The Role & Team:
- The Disney Cruise Line Network Team is responsible for designing, configuring, deploying and operating/managing all network devices in the Disney Cruise Line realm. This includes ships at sea, private islands, home ports, and technology labs.
What You’ll Do:
- Operate a complete and complex framework, system, or product (i.e. Datacenter and distribution LAN switches, WAN routers, Wireless Controllers/Access Points, Firewalls, Network security platforms, load balancers.)
- Work to apply team and organization defined standards for technical platforms, system specifications, security parameters, and configuration frameworks for hardware and/or software compatibility
- Actions request and incident tickets with guidance from senior network engineers.
- Executes and adapts automation processes to reduce workload toil.
- Participate in team objectives for capital and expense project initiatives.
- Provide technical assistance to partner teams in completion of complex organizational level projects.
- You will be expected to stay up to date with emerging technologies
- This role may entail frequent travel, approximately 30-40% of the time, to provide support to DCL shipyards, drydocks, and islands as needed
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum 3 years of related work experience in an enterprise level organization.
- Comfortable working in an agile environment with dynamic prioritization of efforts.
- Experience with day to day hands on operation of standard networking hardware such as routers, switches, firewalls, wireless controllers, and load balancers.
- Demonstrates a good understanding of network security principles, best practices, and understanding of ISE appliances and dot1x principals.
- Proficiently troubleshoots network issues, taking a new perspective on existing solutions
- Assists in developing deployment centralization of devices across a diverse on premise architecture that requires the ability to operate in an air gapped methodology.
- Proficient in problem solving day to day and broader scope issues with a proactive demeanor towards continuous learning and skill development, and an interest in mastering emerging data engineering tools and methodologies
Preferred Qualifications:
- Hands on experience with Cisco Catalyst and Nexus LAN platforms, Cisco Wireless LAN controllers, Broadcom AVI Load Balancers, F5 Networks Load Balancers, Cisco SD-WAN platform, Cisco Security and Management appliances (DNAC, ISE) a plus.
- Experience with managing Palo Alto firewall policies, hands on development of EDL, URL filtering, AD integrated authentication and override.
Required Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software, Electrical or Electronics Engineering, or comparable field of study, and/or equivalent work experience
Preferred Education:
- Cisco, Palo Alto certifications a plus with a concentration on Enterprise Datacenter, Routing/Switching, Troubleshooting, Wireless LAN, Firewall Management.
