Summary:

The Patient Access Associate I – ED is responsible for accurately identifying and registering patients at a Level 1 Trauma Center. This role is the first level of a three-level career ladder and provides support for visitors, patients, and families. While this is a non-clinical role, the Associate I will perform assigned functions side by side with members of clinical care teams, embedded within the clinical care environment. Functions are performed in a high volume, emergent environment utilizing mobile workstations. Emergency Department team members arrive and register patients of all ages and backgrounds experiencing acute mental health crisis, physical and emotional trauma, critical care, etc. and during each shift are exposed to high acuity, disease and sensitive patient and visitor situations.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

  1. education: High school diploma or GED preferred.
  2. License/Certifications: N/A
  3. experience: Related experience in healthcare or customer service is preferred.
  4. Additional Skills/Requirements Required: Computer and data entry experience is required with Microsoft Word, e-mail, and internet communication, as well as the ability to work accurately and effectively with electronic systems.
  5. Additional Skills/Requirements Preferred: N/A
