A post-doctoral position is immediately available in the Division of Immunology at the Tulane National Primate Research Center, affiliated with the School of Medicine at Tulane University. Candidates research will be focused primarily on testing Lyme disease therapeutics and vaccines using animal models.
REQUIRED education AND experience: (Note: Only the following two criteria—one education and one experience—will be used for screening qualified applicants.)
1. Ph.D., D.V.M and/or M.D. in a biological science
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES/COMPETENCIES TYPICALLY NEEDED TO PERFORM THIS JOB SUCCESSFULLY: (Note: The following criteria will not be used in screening qualified applicants but may be considered in the final decision-selection process of candidates interviewed.)
1. Prior experience in molecular biology, microscopy, cell culture, bacterial culture and immunological assays
2. Strong communication skills both verbal and written
3. Proficiency with common laboratory equipment and techniques required
4. Knowledge of various software programs for both PC and Mac systems
5. Organization and supervisory skills required
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: (Note: The following criteria will not be used in screening qualified applicants and may not be used in lieu of minimum qualifications stated above.)
1. Prior experience with arthropod vectors
2. Prior experience with rodent models of infection
3. Grant-writing skills
