Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
The position is dedicated to the technical support of Heat Treat Manufacturing Processes.
- Own and optimize heat treat manufacturing processes (e.g., hardening, tempering, annealing) for quality, efficiency, and throughput.
- Drive process improvements using Lean, Six Sigma, and SPC (Statistical Process Control) methodologies.
- Develop, validate, and standardize heat treat procedures per industry standards (AMS 2750, CQI-9, NADCAP requirements).
- Lead root cause investigations (RCAs) and corrective actions for non-conformances in the heat treat area.
- Maintain and ensure compliance with all internal and external audit requirements (NADCAP, ISO9001, AS9100).
- Collaborate closely with Quality, Maintenance, Production, and Engineering teams on daily issues and strategic projects.
- Support capital equipment upgrades, selection, and installation (furnaces, quenching systems, etc.).
- Train operators and technicians on best practices for heat treating and part handling.

Qualifications
Essential Knowledge and Skills:
- 3-7 years in a manufacturing engineering role with direct hands-on experience in heat treatment processes.
- Strong working knowledge of pyrometry, thermocouple placement, and temperature uniformity surveys (TUS).
- Proven track record with process qualifications (PPAP, FAI) and continuous improvement projects.
- Experience working with metallurgical labs to interpret hardness testing, microstructure evaluations, and process validations.
- Familiarity with managing furnaces (vacuum, atmosphere, induction, or other specialized heat treat equipment).
- Experience creating and maintaining work instructions, travelers, and process specifications.
- Exposure to ERP/MRP systems for manufacturing routings and BOMs.
- Strong skills in data analysis (yield rates, process capability, SPC).
education and/or Experience
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
- Minimum 3 years of experience in manufacturing

Preferred Qualifications:
- Aerospace (especially NADCAP-accredited heat treat operations).
- Automotive (especially IATF 16949-compliant environments with CQI-9 standards).
- Defense/Military manufacturing.
- Industrial equipment manufacturing with critical heat treat components (e.g., gears, fasteners, high-strength parts).
Benefits/Salary:
The position includes competitive wages and a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance (medical, dental, vision), excellent 401k matching program, paid holidays and vacation. The salary range for this position is $88K to $110K.
