Air Liquide Large Industries provides our customers with industrial gas and energy solutions that are vital to their own industrial production. We own and operate over 2,000 miles of industrial gas pipelines in the U.S. supplying mainly oxygen, nitrogen, hydrogen and syngas in large quantities from multiple production sources to major customers in the chemicals, petrochemicals, refining and steel industries. Our pipeline operations and industrial gas production facilities are closely monitored 24/7 within our leading-edge operations control center located in Houston, Texas. Our operations control group monitors over 89,000 data points and assists with product supply and coordination. We are constantly optimizing our supply network to provide high reliability and energy efficiencies allowing Air Liquide to adjust supply needs more quickly and effectively enabling growth to our customers.

How will you CONTRIBUTE and GROW?

The primary responsibility of the production technician will be the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of the air separation unit, water plants, and auxiliary systems as part of a rotating shift schedule. This role is also a safety leader for the site responsible for safe work permitting, performing equipment lock out, and completing safety inspections among other responsibilities to support the operations of the facility.

  • Actively pursuing own growth/career development through self-initiative practices; working with resources made available as coordinated with the supervisor.
  • Instills safety in others by being safety minded; models good safety practices.
  • Fosters open communication amongst all facility technicians in relation to best practices, operational/facility needs, safety issues/concerns, conflicts of interest between shifts/other departments, sharing operational knowledge/expertise.
  • Demonstrates an overall understanding of plant safety rules, regulations, and company safety policies/procedures.
  • Works safely in all situations, active participant in facility safety meetings, and instills safety in others by being safety minded.
  • Identifies potential maintenance needs: enters them into the work order maintenance management system (Maximo).
  • Performs all work in compliance with standard operating and maintenance procedures, utilizing current Life Safety Training skills and safety requirements including, safe work permits, energy control isolation and IDLs, confined space entry work, hot work, work plans, pre-job discussions, plant safety inspections, etc.
  • Ensures contractors, visitors, co-workers and others follow company safety policies/procedures. Issues safe work permit documentation and performs lock-out tag-out of equipment.
  • Acquires knowledge/ability in all plant operations including processes and equipment.
  • Exhibits some instrumentation and mechanical aptitude.
  • Learns and follows standard operating procedures, corporate procedures: read and interpret blueprints, flow charts, process piping, ISOs, simple schematics, P & IDs, electrical schematics, and perform basic math operations.
  • Study/maintain site-specific standard operating procedures, P&IDs, PFDs, all other technical documentation as relates to operational/equipment processes.
  • Calibrate all plant process analytical equipment.
  • Load and unload cryogenic transports as necessary.
  • Keep accurate records and be diligent in documentation and record retention policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrates knowledge/understanding of control board and operator interface computer consoles.
  • Acquire knowledge and ability in all plant operations including processes and equipment.
  • Perform operator rounds, water samples, truck loading, operations PMs.
  • Maintain and expect high housekeeping and organizational standards.
  • Provide fill-in coverage for peers on vacation and serve in emergency shift relief as situations warrant.

Are you a MATCH?

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of related operations experience .
  • Exhibits understanding of governmental regulations including Food Safety, FDA, Current Good Manufacturing Practices, and environmental permitting/compliance, loading /quality assurance, basic electricity, national/local operating procedures, CMMS, maintenance management process, all HSE issues associated with the facility
  • Performs all work in compliance with standard operating/maintenance procedures, utilizing current Life Safety skills, Safe Start and safety requirements including safe work permits, energy control isolation, IDLs, confined space entry work, hot work, work plans, pre-job discussions, plant safety inspections, etc
  • Demonstrates aptitude and willing to assist with mechanical/instrumentation task as necessary
  • Must be willing to perform shift scheduled work. Must be willing to work overtime including weekends and holidays
  • Demonstrate the ability to read and interpret blueprints, flow-charts, process piping ISO’s, simple schematics, P&ID’s, electrical schematics, perform basic math operations, calibrate plant process analytical equipment.
  • Demonstrate basic knowledge and understanding of control-board and operations of operator interface consoles (computer).
  • Demonstrate basic computer (PC) skills and ability to use required software computer applications
  • Candidates must have valid employment authorization in the U.S. and must not require visa sponsorship now or in the future. This position is not open for non-immigrant visa sponsorship.
