DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Psychological Services Associate (PSA) within the Corrections sector, you will deliver psychological services under the close clinical supervision of a Licensed Psychologist Manager, catering to individuals incarcerated in your designated State Correctional Institution. This role is crucial in addressing the mental health and emotional needs of inmates during their time with the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections, ensuring that these needs are met with both efficiency and effectiveness. Your responsibilities will include collaborating with the Licensed Psychologist Manager to plan and organize outpatient mental health services, which encompasses the creation and implementation of Individual Recovery Plans (treatment plans) tailored to each patient.

Additionally, you may be tasked with administering psychological and intelligence assessments, conducting mental status examinations, and preparing psychological evaluations, all under the guidance of the Licensed Psychologist Manager. Your role will also involve providing both individual and group therapy to a diverse population, including those diagnosed with mental illnesses, individuals convicted of sex offenses, and those with dual diagnoses, as well as offering crisis intervention services as required. Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Sunday – Thursday.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $63,301.00 (before taxes).
  • This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.

REQUIRED experience, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • A Master’s degree in psychology or a closely related field, which includes fifteen graduate level credits in psychology, counseling, educational counseling, rehabilitation, human development, learning, or motivation.
  • Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.

Other Requirements:

  • Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

  • You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
