PT Weekend Day Imaging Tech Extender

Wellstar Cobb in Austell, Georgia is seeking a PT Weekend Day Imaging Tech Extender. The days and hours for the position are Saturday and Sunday from 7:00a – 7:30p; this position will receive evening and weekend shift differentials. The Imaging Tech Extender functions under the direction of the Chief Technologists or Site Manager. Providing safe, age appropriate care to the patients in accordance with Policy and Procedures. Maintains good working relationships with managers, staff, physicians and their staff. Assist technologists and/or nurses with patient throughput, room turnover, performs patient advocate functions, and assists with supply and room stocking activities.

Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions:

Assists clinical staff when performing examinations.

  • Assist with observation of patient while in our care and waiting for next step of procedure
  • Provides for room turnover activities to facilitate patient throughput.
  • Able to start IVs for contrast injections.
  • Helps maintain exam rooms with supplies and linens
  • Inventories paper forms and orders as needed
  • Follows procedure for transporting and disposing of dirty equipment.
  • Assists with other duties as assigned
  • Stocks rooms and rotates stock to avoid expiration of supplies
  • Performs QC on POCT lab testing devices and documents results per policy after initial training, completes annual refresher training.
  • Performs POCT prior to procedures when appropriate, after initial training and annual refresher training.

Transportation of patients; Must be flexible with work hours to meet department needs

  • Meets service recovery and customer service guidelines as needed
  • Utilizes the EMR transport module and timely enters applicable information.
  • Transports patients, along with necessary items (IV poles, O2 tanks, etc.).
  • Informs technologists of potential patient safety issues; fall risk precautions, infection control precautions and standard precautions.
  • Maintains standard precautions in all patient interactions
  • Assists in getting patients on and off the stretchers or beds as required
  • Assists with observation of patients while in the department
  • Performs patient advocate role for patients while in the department
  • Introduces self to patient and/or family upon entering room
  • Identifies patient using 2 identifiers
  • Explains where patient is going when transporting between departments
  • Performs appropriate hand-offs per protocol
  • Ensures confidentiality of patient information to remain compliant with HIPPA guidelines
  • Can verbalize their role in response to WellStar Emergency Plans

Must be flexible with work hours to meet department needs.

  • Knows the existing lines of communication and authority, handles communications properly and is dependable, cooperative and emotionally stable.
  • Assists Chief Technologist with other duties as may be assigned.
  • Assists technologists, therapists and other in any other way required as appropriate
  • Assists with supply and room stocking activities.
  • Ensure that Supply Room and Clean/Soiled Utility Rooms are appropriately maintained
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Complies with all Wellstar Health System policies, standards of work, and code of conduct.

Required Minimum Education:

High school diploma High school graduate or equivalent Required

Required Minimum License(s) and Certification(s):

All certifications are required upon hire unless otherwise stated.

Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) Required

Additional License(s) and Certification(s):

Required Minimum Experience:

Clinical Experience in a Healthcare Setting. Required

Medical Imaging experience preferred Preferred

Required Minimum Skills:

Demonstrates good communication skills and handwriting.

Must obtain medical terminology training within twelve (12) months. The individual must be able to communicate and understand verbal and written English language and display a positive attitude (see WellStars Standards of Gold and Values).
