Quality Manager – $1,500 Sign-On Bonus

Advanced Assembly, Inc. (AAI), located in University Research Park on the west side of Madison, is looking to add a Quality Manager to our well-trained and experienced staff. Advanced Assembly, Inc. is an electronics manufacturing services provider of electronic assemblies and products, including the Captioned Telephone (CapTel). Job Summary: The Quality Manager is responsible for building, operating, and scaling Advanced Assembly’s quality infrastructure and shaping the company’s quality culture. This includes evolving the Quality Management System (QMS), ensuring compliance across all products, and preparing for future International Organization for Standardization (ISO) audits and re-certifications. The Quality Manager functions as the quality representative during the New Product Introduction (NPI) process and collaborates with customer teams to execute quality plans for production.

  • Lead the overall implementation of quality initiatives for manufactured products.
  • Manage internal audits, customer audits, and compliance with ISO 9001/2015; function as quality liaison during regulatory audits.
  • Collaborate directly with customers and suppliers on product/component quality and non-conformance issues.
  • Provide statistical monitoring of quality and train manufacturing personnel on quality measurement tools.
  • This role may require up to 15% travel to maintain customer and supplier relationships and to conduct site visits.
  • Lead core quality system elements: document control, training, deviations/Corrective Action and Preventative Action (CAPA), change control, equipment qualification, and batch record processes.
  • Author Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), policies, and quality plans to support robust product quality and manufacturing workflows.
  • Ensure traceability and consistency throughout the manufacturing pre-build, build, and post-build processes.
  • Conduct internal gap analyses and prepare the organization for ISO certification.
  • Support validation of methods and analytical procedures used to ensure product consistency and fitness for use.
  • Lead quality oversight of product release, in-process controls, and supplier qualification.
  • Train staff across departments on quality standards and ensure understanding of QMS elements.
  • Build a continuous improvement culture using metrics and data driven decision-making.
  • Provide guidance to leadership team on quality risks and compliance strategy that supports company growth.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:  Directly supervises Quality Assurance and Document Control positions.

Requirements: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and/or abilities required.

  • Bachelor’s degree in quality, engineering, or management, or associate’s degree and equivalent work experiences required. Master’s degree in quality assurance, engineering, or business administration preferred.
  • 3-5 years in quality management within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated leadership in implementing ISO 9001/13485 quality systems.
  • Experience with quality tools like root cause analysis, Eight Disciplines (8D), Design of Experiments (DOE), Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), and Six Sigma Lean a plus.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to influence cross-functional teams.
  • Professional certifications, e.g., American Society for Quality (ASQ) Certified Manager of Quality/Organizational Excellence (CMQ/OE), Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), Certified Reliability Engineer (CRE), Certified Six Sigma Black Belt (CSSBB), Certified Quality Auditor (CQA) preferred.
  • Experience in the Electronics Manufacturing Services (EMS) industry a plus.
