| Posting Summary | Dr. DeMauro, Department of Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering (Rutgers University, New Brunswick, NJ, USA) is seeking applications from qualified individuals for a full-time Research associate position working on the design and operation of the Rutgers University Expansion Tube (GANDALF). The position will begin as early as February 2026 and looks to support ongoing research in experimental aerodynamics. The primary role of a successful candidate will be to oversee operations in the expansion tube facility, help pursue funding opportunities, and train graduate students in its usage. THIS IS A GRANT FUNDED APPOINTMENT CONTINGENT ON AVAILABLITY OF FUNDS. IT ALSO REQUIRES PROOF OF WORK AUTHORIZATION AND PROPER VISA STATUS. Dr. DeMauro’s lab, Gas Dynamics Research Lab, focuses on measurements of compressible flows across a range of Mach numbers. Our newest facility, GANDALF, is an expansion tube capable of hypervelocity, high-enthalpy flows. | Minimum education and Experience | The candidates should have a Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering or a closely related field. The candidate should have a very strong background in experimental methods utilizing class 4 lasers, optics, and cameras. We seek a candidate experienced in designing and working with pressure vessels, interfacing with machinists. The desired candidate will also be experienced in using LabVIEW, Matlab, NX, and must be willing to regularly take part in conferences such as SciTech and Aviation. |
