Job SummaryThe Retirement Projects Consultant is responsible for leading and supporting enterprise-wide retirement and benefits related projects including plan consolidations, integrations, and compliance initiatives across multiple entities and employee groups.
Primary Objectives - Drive execution of retirement plan consolidations, vendor transitions, and related implementation projects.
- Collaborate with cross-functional internal and external teams to align project plans with compliance and operational requirements.
- Provide subject matter expertise on retirement and benefits programs during project planning and execution.
- Support departmental initiatives that enhance the employee experience and streamline benefits administration.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead project planning, timeline development, and execution for retirement plan consolidations, new plan implementations, and related initiatives.
- Coordinate with brokers, vendors, and internal teams to manage plan amendments, restatements, and compliance deliverables.
- Research and analyze plan designs, vendor contracts, and materials.
- Support benefits-related projects, including product implementations, process redesigns, system integrations, and communication rollouts.
- Facilitate meetings, document decisions, and track progress against milestones.
- Prepare and review project documentation, including compliance filings, plan summaries, and participant communications.
- Analyze plan data and vendor performance to support decision-making and identify improvement opportunities.
- Collaborate with payroll, HRIS, and finance teams to align operational processes with project outcomes.
- Support coordination and integration between service providers and payroll for processing of transactions, including timely, accurate communication and documentation practices relating to deductions, plan remittances, and reconciliations.
- Assist with Retirement Plan Committee (RPC) coordination, including meeting materials and follow-up actions.
- Monitor and report on regulatory requirements including but not limited to ERISA, IRS, and DOL relevant to project scope.
- Develop and maintain awareness of plan design elements, requirements, and considerations relating to eligibility and enrollment, including interaction with other programs.
- Support the Benefits team with ad hoc initiatives and transition planning as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

education
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or equivalent combination of relevant, college-level coursework and applied experience required
Licenses and Certifications
- Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS), Qualified Pension Administrator (QPA), or similar professional certifications preferred
Work Experience
- 5+ years’ directly-related retirement plan administration experience required
- 5+ years’ directly-related full-cycle benefits experience required
- 3+ years’ experience with retirement recordkeeping platforms such as Fidelity Investments, Voya Financial, Principal Financial Group, T. Rowe Price or similar platforms required
- Project management experience required
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- In-depth understanding of features and mechanics of a broad variety of defined contribution and defined benefit retirement programs.
- Proven ability to manage complex projects with multiple stakeholders and competing priorities.
- Solid understanding of ERISA and all applicable requirements, regulations, and federal and state laws relating to retirement plans.
- Knowledge and understanding of features, processes, and regulations related to employee benefit programs.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail with the ability to interpret and explain complex plan documents and regulations.
- Excellent process and documentation management skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to properly handle confidential and sensitive information and materials, detailed understanding of applicable privacy and information security regulations.
- Excellent research, project planning, and time management skills.
- Familiarity with HRIS and vendor systems and reporting tools.
- Demonstrated intermediate level proficiency with Microsoft Office products including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
