The SOS is a shift work position responsible for providing strong leadership and supervision in the start-up, shutdown, operation, and maintenance of power plant equipment. This position provides direction, technical expertise and supervision to station associates and support teams.Sewaren Combined Cycle is a 541 MW Dual Fuel Combined Cycle Plant located in Sewaren, NJ.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Supervise bargaining unit associates to effectively lead the plant operations staff.
Ensure safe, reliable, environmentally compliant, and economic plant operation.
Coordinate the daily operations and outage related work required to maintain unit availability.
Responsible for the remote operations of approximately an additional 515MW of offsite simple cycle generating units made up of LM6000s and GE 7EA machines located in Linden and Burlington NJ.
Coordinate the operation of the generating units with ESOC and Trading.
Communicate with leadership, outside agencies, internal and external clients.
Establish high standards and provide leadership and motivation by training, appraising, coaching, counseling, rewarding and disciplining associates.
Maintain compliance with applicable station and corporate operating procedures and policies.
Act as authority on site in absence of plant management and as Incident Commander during upset conditions.
Qualifications and Skills
High school diploma or GED equivalent.
Minimum of 10 years operations experience and 5 years in a leadership role in power generation facilities and/or similar industrial facilities.
Computer literacy with good knowledge of Microsoft Office.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including written and verbal.
Understanding of federal, state, municipal and local permit limitations, and regulatory requirements.
Proven leadership abilities.
Ability to work rotating shifts with rotating days off.

Other Desirable Skills
GE MarK VIe knowledge
5-10 Years supervisory experience.
Technical certification or training and familiarity with LOTO.
Air Frame Power Plant License is desirable but not required.
