Senior Security Technician

SUMMARY: The Senior Security Technician will support the US military programs and will provide exceptional technical support services for complex physical security system installations at other bases. Must be able to travel up to 100% for 4-8 weeks during ESS installation assignments.

  • Provide technical skills to install, repair, and/or upgrade electronic/electrical components comprising multifaceted integrated security systems.
  • Utilize drawings, diagrams, schematics, specifications, standards, technical manuals, and manufacturer guides/instructions to ensure security equipment is installed, configured, and maintained in accordance with functional and operational requirements.
  • Support BCF engineering, management, and other personnel during meetings, reviews, and technical interchanges with Government representatives to design, document, acquire, install, integrate, modify, test and deliver high-performance integrated security systems.
  • Assist BCF engineering in analyzing customer’s operational and functional technical requirements to support the preparation and submission of design packages for the installation of electronic security equipment.
  • Ensure equipment is installed in accordance with all applicable electrical codes, government directives, safety regulations, and other applicable documents.
  • Perform Preventative Maintenance and Corrective Maintenance as required on installed systems
  • Prepare and update documentation, as required, to capture site specific data that comprises the installation baseline.  Provide input to change requests and incorporate and document approved changes to the installed baseline and supporting artifacts.
  • Assist with quality control, configuration management, and equipment logistics of the installed system.
  • Ship and receive equipment to/from security installations for installation and/ or replacement.
  • Perform incoming inspection of receivables and coordinate with vendors and manufactures to ensure received components are correct as ordered, timely received, and functionally operational.
  • Must be able to travel to remote sites and locations in support of program objectives

NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES:  Perform other duties as assigned
education AND experience

  • High School Diploma required; Associates Degree desired (applicants with technical curriculum preferred)
  • 6+ years of experience in the construction, installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of physical security type applications for U.S. Government facilities
  • Demonstrated, hands on experience with electronic security systems, to include video management systems, intrusion detection sensors, access control systems, PC based security software and applications, ground-based radars, communications equipment, and day/night/thermal imaging cameras
  • Proficiency in reading and understanding blueprints, diagrams, schematics, user’s manuals & troubleshooting guides is a must
  • Experience in installing and/or configuring networking equipment, fiber optics, hardwired interfaces, low voltage power distribution and power sources, computer-based systems and software – troubleshooting experience is preferred
  • Capable of working independently to solve technical problems utilizing sound decision making that is the best interest of the customer.
  • Good interpersonal and communications skills, both written and verbal, to maintain a strong relationship with Government and Security Forces Personnel.
  • Must be a self-starter, detail oriented, able to prioritize, and reach objectives within time and resource constraints.
  • Able to travel up to 100% for 4-8 weeks during ESS installation assignments

COMPUTER SKILLS:

  • Skill in operating a personal computer and standard office equipment
  • Must have proficiency in a variety of computer software applications in word processing, spreadsheets, and database (MS Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • MS Project experience a plus

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS, CLEARANCE: 

  • Must possess (or be able to obtain) an active DoD Secret security clearance (U.S. Citizenship)
  • Licensed electrician, IT/cybersecurity certification, FO or low-voltage certification are a plus

ADDITIONAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND COMPETENCIES:

  • US military force protection systems experience strongly preferred

  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors; sometimes in extreme weather conditions
