Senior Software Engineer – MVP Incubation & Technical Strategy
Location: Santa Clara, CA (hybrid position)
About LG NOVA
LG NOVA is the corporate incubation arm of LG Electronics. We work with a network of startup partners to explore and launch transformative ventures across cleantech, healthcare, and AI. Our process is collaborative, fast-paced, and experimental-we identify novel applications of emerging technologies and rapidly prototype businesses around them.
About the Team
You’ll be joining a small, high-agency engineering team led by LG NOVA’s Director of Engineering. Our role is to support Entrepreneurs in Residence (EIRs) in developing MVPs by bringing engineering judgment, technical contribution, and product sensibility to the table. We build what we can in-house and supplement with third-party development shops where needed.
About the Role
You won’t just be writing code-you’ll be shaping the foundation of new ventures. That means:
- Translating business concepts into actionable technical plans
- Contributing to engineering work on the microservices and integration layers
- Managing external development teams to ensure delivery quality
- Identifying technical risks and edge cases in early-stage ideas
- Communicating across disciplines: working closely with EIRs, product, and leadership
This is an ideal role for someone with strong fundamentals, a collaborative mindset, and the desire to influence products at their inception-even if the day-to-day includes more architecture reviews and PM conversations than raw coding.
What We’re Looking For
- 8+ years of experience in software engineering (we’re flexible; quality over pedigree) with a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
- Strong technical judgment: ability to distinguish what’s feasible, what’s not, and what’s risky
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills-especially in cross-functional or ambiguous environments
- Experience with full-stack or backend systems; React, React Native, and Python are a plus
- Comfort working in hybrid roles that blend engineering with product strategy
