About you and this role

Dow has an exciting job opportunity as a Senior Turnaround Coordinator located in Orange, Texas for Sabine River Operations (SRO).

The purpose of this job is providing oversight for the Turnaround strategy, planning and execution. Through the use of Global Turnaround Methodology (GTM), ensures the appropriate and timely involvement of all functions critical to the success of the turnaround. Constancy of purpose, timely approvals/decisions, and closure on issues are key responsibilities. Requires full proficiency in a range of technical, operational, or analytical/scientific processes and procedures through job-related training and considerable on the job experience to perform a variety of work assignments. Acts as an informal resource for team members with less experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Develops and maintains the turnaround schedules.
  • Coordinates site integration issues.
  • Forecasts turnaround resource loads and coordinates with contract service to ensure proper staffing levels.
  • Leads turnaround teams to develop and implement plans for a series of turnarounds in each of the plants.
  • Controls the cost and timing of the turnaround to meet the business and site needs.
  • Defines work list by freeze date and enforces administrative controls for add-ons after freeze date.
  • Develops critical path – integrate operations, projects, and maintenance activities and optimizes.
  • Estimates cost of turnaround based on scoped work and adjust plans to meet constraints.
  • Identifies opportunities for frequency extension between turnarounds and communicate appropriately.
  • Prepares and communicates closure reports.
  • Leads core turnaround team to ensure work coordination, planning, scheduling, cost management, material management, operations rep, project rep, and shared services are working together in Front End Loading (FEL), pre-Turnaround (TA) activities, TA execution, and Post TA activities.
  • Ensures plans are updated and archived for future turnarounds.
  • Works with reliability staff to update Facility Reliability and Maintenance Strategy.

Required Qualifications: 

  • Must have a High School diploma or GED and one of the following:
  • 3 or more years of experience in a chemical or refining manufacturing facility is required.
  • Experience in and understanding of the flow of maintenance work in various crafts.
  • Ability to work 4-10s, but adaptability to work flexible schedules including weekends and nights.
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English.
  • Current, valid US driver’s license.
  • A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • SAP Experience
  • 5 or more years of maintenance craft experience or exposure to maintenance work in a refining or petrochemical environment is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications, such as Word and Excel.

Physical Demand:

Able to meet the following physical demands of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations:

  • Perform frequent bending, reaching, and lifting.
  • Work in tight or closed-in spaces.
  • Required be able to work outdoors in the plant in all types of weather, climb stairs and ladders, walk and be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
  • Ability to climb stairs/ladders while performing in an elevated work environment greater than or equal to four feet above the ground.
  • Must be able to wear and use personal protective equipment (PPE) not limited to respirator, earplugs, goggles, and steel-toed shoes, including harnesses with a total weight capacity of 300lbs.
  • Must be willing and able to stand or walk for extended periods of time.

  • Good interpersonal skills are required.
  • Must have strong multi-tasking, problem solving and time management skills.
  • Demonstrate leadership skills – inspire others and lead them through influence.
  • A self-starter who can identify, prioritize and accomplish multiple tasks.
