Brief Summary of Work for this Position | The Simulation Learning Center (SLC) Manager is responsible for the daily operations of the Labs. This position will schedule, coordinate, and oversee all activities that occur in this state-of-the art facility. The manager will ensure adherence to simulation program policies, safety measures, and standards related to accreditation. Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit | The School of Nursing (SON) within the College of Health and Human Services (CHHS) at the University of North Carolina Wilmington (UNCW) has an outstanding legacy of serving the people of southeastern North Carolina through education, scholarship, and service. The SON is dedicated to excellence in the development of healthcare professionals through in-depth education, professional partnerships, applied research, regional engagement, and community outreach and impact. The SON is a National League of Nursing Center of Excellence in Nursing Education, specifically in the area of promoting the pedagogical expertise of faculty. The SON is located in McNeill Hall, a state-of-the-art facility that includes offices, classrooms, a large lecture hall, computer laboratories, student success areas and learning commons, and the Simulation Learning Center. The Simulation Learning Center uses high, medium, and low-fidelity human patient simulators as teaching and learning tools for nursing education. Through the use of simulation, we strive to create a realistic environment and a powerful learning experience that promotes the cognitive, affective, physical, and social development of the student as well as the incorporation of inter-professional collaborative experiences for students across the degree programs in the College. College/School Information | The College of Health and Human Services was created in July 2010 to provide UNCW with a new mechanism to link and focus its health-related research, professional continuing education, and health knowledge dissemination and Application. In the formative stage of development, the CHHS is currently home to three professional schools: School of Health and Applied Human Sciences, School of Nursing, and School of Social Work.
