Job Description

DESCRIPTION:

Duties: Design highly scalable microservices applications for JPMC’s Personalization and Insights team. Analyze the business requirements and translate them to working code. Package Application for deployment in the cloud environment. Conduct applications performance tuning. Work in an agile development environment and deliver working code through a CI/CD approach including using automated testing approaches. Containerize applications for deployment. Mentor junior staff. Code proof of concepts (POC) and defending designs in the JAD (Joint Application Development) sessions. Contribute to the corporate engineering knowledge ecosystem by actively participating in hackathons and internal technology presentations.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum education and experience required: Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Management Information Systems, Information Technology, Mathematics, Data Analytics, Data Engineering, or related field of study plus 3 years of experience in the job offered or as Software Engineer, Software Developer, or related occupation. The employer will alternatively accept a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Management Information Systems, Information Technology, Mathematics, Data Analytics, Data Engineering, or related field of study plus 5 years of experience in the job offered or as Software Engineer, Software Developer, or related occupation.

Skills Required: This position requires experience with the following: Java Standard Edition (SE) and Enterprise Edition (EE), including core Java concepts such as object-oriented programming, data structures, algorithms, and design patterns; advanced Java features such as multithreading, concurrency, and memory management; Java ecosystem, libraries and frameworks, such as Spring, Spring Boot, Guice Dagger or Micronaut; Spring Framework, including dependency injection, aspect-oriented programming, and Spring’s core container; Utilizing Spring MVC to build robust and scalable web applications; Spring Data for data access and manipulation, including JPA, Hibernate, or iBatis; Spring Security for implementing authentication and authorization in applications; using Spring Boot to develop microservices-based architectures, including creating, configuring, and deploying Spring Boot applications; Spring Boot starters to simplify dependency management and configuration; Spring Boot Actuator for monitoring and managing applications; externalized configuration using Spring Boot’s configuration properties and profiles; Kafka architecture, including producers, consumers, topics, partitions, and brokers; Kafka Streams for building real-time stream processing applications; Kafka Connect for integrating Kafka with data sources and sinks; message serialization formats such as Avro, JSON, and Protobuf; setting up and managing Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines using Jenkins; Jenkins Pipeline or Hudson or Spinnaker as Code for defining build, test, and deployment processes; Jenkins plugins for extending functionality and integrating with other tools; integrating automated testing frameworks with Jenkins for continuous testing; microservices architecture principles, including service decomposition, bounded contexts, and domain-driven design; designing and implementing RESTful APIs; service discovery mechanisms such as Eureka, Consul, or Kubernetes; implementing resilience patterns such as circuit breakers, retries, and bulkheads using tools such as Hystrix or Resilience4j; containerization technologies such as Docker and orchestration tools such as Kubernetes for deploying and managing microservices; using Splunk for log management, including collecting, indexing, and visualizing log data; writing complex queries using Splunk’s Search Processing Language (SPL) to extract meaningful insights from log data; creating and managing Splunk dashboards for real-time monitoring and alerting; integrating Splunk with data sources and applications for comprehensive log analysis; relational database design principles, including normalization, indexing, and schema design; writing complex SQL queries for data retrieval, manipulation, and reporting; optimizing SQL queries and database performance, including indexing strategies and query optimization techniques; RDBMS such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, or SQL Server; using Docker for containerizing applications, including creating Dockerfiles and managing Docker images; Docker Compose for defining and running multi-container Docker applications; container orchestration tools such as Kubernetes for deploying, scaling, and managing containerized applications; Docker best practices, including image optimization, security, and resource management; version control systems, including Git; working in Agile development environments; mentoring junior engineers and leading technical discussions.

Full-Time. Salary: $181,000 – $185,000 per year.
