JOB DESCRIPTION:

As a member of the Abbott’s Corporate Finance Services organization, the candidate will be responsible for financial accounting and reporting in Abbott’s Medical Devices division. This Position requires an in-depth understanding of accounting and operational aspects of finance and accounting systems, with a specific focus on, but not limited to, Manufacturing Operations.

Job Description

  • Responsible for a variety of complex month-end closing activities, including journal entry preparation, account analysis, intercompany transactions, account reconciliations, and month-end consolidations and reporting.
  • Manage the month-end close process for the -manufacturing site, including SRV clearing, inventory, and WIP and Subassembly reclasses.
  • Perform annual plan/update standard setting and cost rollups for manufacturing plants as required.
  • Review and approve journal entries and account reconciliations prepared by staff, provide guidance and coaching as needed.
  • Liaison between the Business Unit and Abbott Global Lease Accounting (GLA) team; assist with PV analysis and Lease payment schedules. Quarterly completion of the GLA questionnaire and identify variances between GLA tool projected value and value reported in consolidated financial results.
  • Ensure compliance with SOX, internal controls, Abbott Corporate and division/department specific policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with FP&A, other accounting colleagues, as well as Third Party Service providers to execute the financial close, provide guidance, and work together to improve processes.
  • Ability to identify opportunities for process improvements and lead efforts to implement process changes.
  • Operate independently, be flexible in an environment with evolving and changing business processes.
  • Participate in projects and initiatives related to existing or new processes/implementations as needed.
  • Complete external and internal audit requests, Sox requests, tax requests as well as ad-hoc requests from other parts of the organization
  • Support all Company initiatives as identified by management.

Required Education/Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance and/or Business. CPA certification preferred, not required.
  • At least 5 years of experience in accounting with positions of increasing responsibility.
  • Prior experience in a large company Shared Services environment or cross-division business unit model preferred.
  • Experience with working large ERP systems, SAP and HFM preferred, not required.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills, and data analysis required.
  • Ability to work independently, ability to lead projects.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels in the organization.
  • Strong organizational and follow-up skills, as well as attention to detail. Demonstrated problem solving skills and the ability to multitask and prioritize to meet deadlines.

Location The position is based in Temecula, CA

The base pay for this position is

$85,300.00 – $170,700.00

In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
