Sustainability Data Analyst

The Opportunity:

Avantor, a Global Fortune 500 company is looking for a dedicated Sustainability Data Analyst to optimize our Environmental, Health & Safety organization.

This role is full-time, USA remote.

What we are looking for

Minimum Education Requirement:

  • Bachelor’s degree (Environmental Science, Data Science, Sustainability, Statistics, Business, or a related field)

Travel:

  • Up to 25%

Required Experience (2+ yrs):

  • Data analysis, sustainability, ESG reporting, or a related area.
  • Data tools (e.g. Microsoft Excel, Power BI, Tableau)
  • Data management and reporting frameworks (e.g. GRI, SASB, CDP, TCFD, SBTi)
  • Analytical and critical thinking skills, with attention to detail.
  • Business level written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Experience:

  • Environmental management systems (EMS), carbon accounting tools (e.g., SimaPro, GHG Protocol), or lifecycle assessment tools.
  • Corporate ESG strategy or sustainability consulting.
  • Assisting with collecting and organizing sustainability-related data (e.g., energy usage, waste, water, emissions, social impact metrics).
  • Collecting, cleaning, and analyzing sustainability and ESG-related data from internal systems and external sources.
  • Maintaining dashboards and reports to track sustainability performance.
  • Developing and maintaining dashboards, scorecards, and performance metrics to track key sustainability indicators (e.g., energy use, carbon footprint, water usage, waste reduction, metrics).
  • Supporting internal and external reporting efforts, such as ESG reports, carbon disclosures, and sustainability certifications.
  • Conducting research and benchmarking on industry trends and best practices.
  • Collaborating cross functionally to ensure data accuracy and alignment on sustainability initiatives.

  • Collect, manage, and analyze data to measure the impact of our sustainability efforts, identify opportunities for improvement, and support transparent reporting to stakeholders.
  • Gather and analyze data that supports our environmental and social impact initiatives.
  • Work with various teams to ensure accurate reporting and help us track progress toward our sustainability goals.
  • Ensure data quality and consistency in accordance with reporting standards and internal guidelines.
  • Support the preparation of sustainability reports, such as annual ESG reports, CDP disclosures, GRI, SASB, or TCFD-aligned reports.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., Operations, Supply Chain, Facilities, HR) to gather data and support sustainability project implementation.
  • Conduct benchmarking and trend analysis to assess industry best practices and company performance.
  • Assist in identifying and evaluating opportunities for emissions reductions, resource efficiency, and sustainable operations.
  • Ensure data integrity and compliance with relevant reporting standards and frameworks.
  • Communicate findings and insights through clear visualizations and presentations to stakeholders.
