Position: Teacher Assistant (Job Coaching experience)

Location: Livingston, NJ 

Status: Full Time

Hours: Monday- Friday 8:15 am-3:15 pm; 12 months with approximately 8 weeks paid recess plus personal time 

Salary: $36,000.00 To $38,000.00 Annually

Summary: Pillar High School, an approved private school for students with disabilities, is seeking a dedicated full-time Teacher Assistant with Job Coaching experience to join our team and make a meaningful impact on students’ learning, independence, and career readiness.

Responsibilities:

• Assist in all areas of instruction, including academics, daily routines, therapy groups (aquatic & hippotherapy), and special activities.
• Support students with daily living skills such as feeding, toileting, and mobility while fostering independence, socialization, and self-esteem.
• Adapt instructional activities and materials based on individualized education programs (IEPs).
• Work closely with teachers and therapists to implement sensory diets, feeding plans, and AAC communication strategies.
• Ensure student safety when using adaptive equipment such as wheelchairs, walkers, and standers.
• Supervise students during arrival, departure, and bus duties.
• Implement classroom behavior management strategies effectively.
• Maintain professionalism as a role model, demonstrating positivity and teamwork.
• Be prepared and punctual for meetings, conferences, and training sessions.

Qualifications:

• High School diploma required (college coursework preferred).
• Eligible for a Substitute Certificate or prior experience in a similar school setting.
• Experience working with children with special needs is a plus.
• Job Coaching experience preferred.
• Must pass a fingerprint examination and criminal history check.
