Technical Program Manager, Automation & Controls

What to Expect

Tesla is seeking a Technical Program Manager with expertise in advanced automation and controls systems for industrial projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in automation, electrical and instrumentation engineering and a proven ability to manage projects from initial concept through execution.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead the kickoff and planning of engineering project scopes including the development of cross-discipline schedules, budgets, resource forecasts, and procurement plans
  • Coordinate the execution, review and approval of engineering designs
  • Act as a key stakeholder for quality of design ensuring it meets projects requirements
  • Facilitate cross-functional collobartion with R&D, technology, construction, commissioning, operations and maintenance teams to ensure designs are constructable, operable and maintainable
  • Write detailed and thorough bid packages, clear communication expectations to bidders, and validating contractors are qualified to execute the scope
  • Track and understand all project costs at a fundamental level, challenging design revision, RFIs and change orders to ensure Tesla receives the best value
  • Ensure projects are started and executed with a focus on building advanced automated systems to optimize operations

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience
  • 4+ years’ experience in technical project management
  • Demonstrated application of project and program management fundamentals to complex engineering problems
  • Ability to effectively execute many projects and tasks in parallel
  • Demonstrated experience creating, maintaining and communicating schedules
  • Detail oriented with strong record-keeping and organizational skills
  • Knowledge of electronics fundamentals, ability to understand sophisticated electronics system design preferred
