We have an exciting opportunity for an Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) Instructor located in the High Desert of California. Under general supervision, this position is responsible for the development of emerging UAS training delivery and the coordination of system operations efforts, including resource management, planning, briefing, executing, debriefing, training documentation, ground and flight safety.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBLITIES:

  • Serves as a permanent, full time, UAS Instructor and may serve as a Flight Examiner/Evaluator.
  • Performs as a subject matter expert for all aspects of the company’s family of UAS, to include aircraft hardware and software, ground control, station hardware and software.
  • Responsible for the safe operation of the UAS during all phases of ground and flight operations.
  • Instructs a full spectrum of UAS operators, from students as well as instructors-in-training, in all aspects of UAS ground and flight operations, mission management and integration, and maintenance coordination; including academics, simulator, and live-fly instruction.
  • Coordinates on UAS capabilities to include into training delivery for all phases of UAS operations, supporting development of training syllabus courseware to include research, word processing and presentation development.
  • Ensures compliance with all governing regulations including service guidance, company procedures and Federal Aviation Administration Regulations.
  • Responsible for observing all laws, regulations and other applicable obligations and company policies wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company.
  • Maintains and promotes a productive and safe working environment in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.
  • Other duties as assigned or required.

Job Qualifications:• Typically requires education or training equivalent to a four-year technical degree and six or more years progressively complex aviation experience; equivalent professional aviation experience may be substituted in lieu of education.

  • Progressively complex aviation experience must include work done as an instructor pilot in a formal training program.
  • 1,000 hours as Pilot-in-Command (PIC) with instructor or multiple aircraft qualification; 1,500 total hours, Multiple Aircraft Pilot Evaluator qualification.
  • Ability to meet instructor pilot prerequisites prior to certification as a UAS instructor.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance.
  • Ability to maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Ability to effectively interface and communicate, both verbal and written, with all levels of employees, as well as military and civilian customers; effective interpersonal skills fostering teamwork.
  • Ability to work independently, within a team environment, as well as lead a team, when required, including planning and coordinating work assignments.

Must possess:

  • Strong knowledge of computer applications and operations pertinent to the position.
  • Strong aviation background and demonstrate a complete understanding of technical principles, theories, and concepts.
  • FAA Commercial Certificate with a current instrument rating.
  • FAA Class II medical certificate.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain secret DoD clearance is required.

Desired:

  • Previous qualification as an instructor pilot in an aircraft with an air-to-air and/or air-to-ground role.
  • Previous qualification as an instructor pilot and/or evaluator at a military formal training unit.
  • FAA Certified Flight Instructor.

Salary:$140,940 – $252,293
