Background:

UN Women, grounded in the vision of equality enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations, works for the elimination of discrimination against women and girls; the empowerment of women; and the achievement of equality between women and men as partners and beneficiaries of development, human rights, humanitarian action and peace and security.

The Unstereotype Alliance is a thought and action platform convened by UN Women, that uses advertising as a force for good to drive positive change. It seeks to eradicate all harmful stereotypes from advertising and media content. With a focus on empowering people in all their diversity (race, class, age, ability, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, language, education, etc.) to help create an equal world, the Alliance brings together a powerful global coalition of private sector leaders behind the common goal of eliminating gender bias and harmful stereotypes from their advertising.

To create a practical and enforceable way to achieve real global change, the Unstereotype Alliance implemented its National Expansion Programme (NEP) to activate the Alliance’s mission at a local and country level. The UA Secretariat hereby seeks to recruit a Project Coordination Consultant to assist with the strategic and operational development of this workstream.

Under the direct supervision of the Head of the Unstereotype Alliance Secretariat (HUAS), the Junior Project Coordination Consultant will assist the NEP Specialist with the coordination and management of the NEP, to maintain continuity and sustain the momentum of the twelve established National Chapters (Argentina, Australia, Brazil, India, Japan, Kenya, Mexico, Nigeria, South Africa, Turkey, UAE and UK) as well as support in preparations for the launch of 2 new National Chapters (China and Indonesia) by mid-2026. The NEP Support Officer will assist with strategic, tactical, administrative, financial and operational support for established and prospective National Chapters and UN Women Country Office colleagues including onboarding and tracking correspondence and reporting.

The Junior Project Coordination Consultant will coordinate all new and existing chapters with Due Diligence research and manage the Due Diligence process for global members and prospective members. The Junior Consultant will also provide support to the wider Unstereotype Alliance team to fulfil the 2025/6 UA work plan, support with major events (e.g. Cannes Lions Festival and UNGA) coordination of All Member Calls, coordination of national chapter entries to the UA newsletter and maintaining web and member hub access and content.

Description of Responsibilities /Scope of Work

1.Act as a NEP Focal Point across all National Chapters with ongoing activities and specific events:

Facilitate regular communications with (UNW internal) NEP Focal Points through bilaterals or team meetings for learning and capacity development, ensuring the Secretariat is kept across key communications and is present at meetings.
Act as a focal point for day-to-day coordination to support the NEP Focal Points in developing and implementing their strategic plans to ensure the continued engagement and sustainability of the Chapters.
Support the organization of key activations at the local level, including the celebration of launches, anniversaries and participation in key local industry awards or events.

2. Coordinate and Assist with the launch of pipeline National Chapters:

Compile key materials and conduct light research to assess the suitability of future prospective National Chapters.
Assist with preparatory work for new National Chapters, ensuring national focal points are adequately briefed on the member recruitment process, Due Diligence and UA materials, ensuring all research, financial and administrative support is finalized, and members are onboarded.

3. Liaise with the UA Secretariat to coordinate the representation and engagement of National Chapters globally: 

Collaborate with the NEP Focal Points and UA Secretariat colleagues to provide monthly updates on national chapters for the Learning Cafes, UA’s social media channels, website, newsletter, All-Member Call and Deputy Vice Chair calls.
Prepare briefing notes and interventions to ensure NEP engagement in major global initiatives/events (Cannes Lions, CSW, UNGA, Global Member Summit, Spikes Asia etc.).
Engage the National Chapter Focal Points and members to contribute to the Global Research Forum in collaboration with the Global Member Engagement Consultant.
Collate all impact data from National Chapter Focal Points to ensure adequate tracking and reporting – for DVC meetings and to feed into the UA annual report (e.g. collection of media impressions, number of events and trainings including participation numbers etc).
Provide key logistical and administrative support for UA high-level events such as the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity.
Support UA Secretariat colleagues with outreach and engagement of National Chapter Focal Points, Members and Influencers as necessary to meet the UA global workplan activities.
Develop and maintain information products including NEP case studies and ‘Information Notes’ to profile the membership and highlight the impacts of the Unstereotype Alliance membership both globally and at local levels, particularly on the Unstereotype Alliance Member Hub.

4. Provide operational and administrative support to the National Chapters and the global UA Secretariat:

Work with the PSP Due Diligence Help Desk to streamline Due Diligence submissions and apply the Private Sector Engagement strategy. Coordinate with other UN Women colleagues and guide NEP Focal Points on the next steps to foster local membership growth.
Review incoming member requests to the UA inbox, providing light analysis of the suitability of partnership, and where required, perform initial DD checks.
Complete Due Diligence assessments for global UA members and monitor any increase in Due Diligence risk for the global and NEP membership.
Support with internal NEP knowledge management including Welcome Packs for new members and allies, onboarding documentation, filing systems for finance records and documents as well as any other guidance needed across the NEP administrative process.
Provide operational and administrative assistance to the NEP Focal Points for full compliance in terms of due diligence, Quantum and overall finances, procurement, and administrative procedures, fielding queries to the UN Women HQ legal and finance colleagues with Secretariat support.
Support with the UA Programme Associate on the administrative, financial and human resource-related matters for the National Chapters hosted by National Committees (UK and Australia).
Assist with the creation of and update UA presentation materials including templated pitch decks, membership overview, factsheets and case studies for the UA and UN Women network to use.
Monitor the inclusion in NEP products (playbooks etc) on the UA member hub and website (where applicable). Track the status of NC and global member organisations to be continuously updated on the UA website and newsletter.

Timely submission of accurate and quality reports/materials including for training workshops, Learning Cafés, global UA and National Chapter events
Consultant’s Workplace and Official Travel

This is a home-based consultancy. The consultant will be expected to work on ET time zone, regardless of their location.

Required Qualifications

Education and Certification:

Master’s degree (or equivalent) in International Relations, Marketing, Public Relations, Gender Studies or other related fields
A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.

Experience:

1 year of professional experience in project management and community engagement with the private sector;
Experience working with the marketing or advertising industry;
Experience in excel and data-entry is required;
Knowledge of the UN System, particularly, is preferred
Languages:

Fluency in English.
Knowledge of Spanish or any other UN official language (French, Russian, Chinese and Arabic) is an asset.
