Description of Work

Thus, the Job Responsibilities and Essential Functions for Non-Tenure Track Faculty should be interpreted in the context of the related departmental and collegiate teaching goals.

Teaching – Faculty responsibilities and essential functions with respect to teaching may include but are not limited to: subject matter competence, course design, course presentation, and grading student work.

Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesDuties include teaching private low brass lessons (trombone, euphonium, tuba) to undergraduate students; develop and maintain a studio of sufficient size to meet the ensemble needs of the department and retain excellent students; and teaching related courses in brass techniques/pedagogy and music classes in general education. Additional duties may be assigned commensurate with the candidate’s expertise and the department’s curricular, service, and community outreach needs.

Minimum Experience/EducationUNC Charlotte gives primary consideration to the earned masters and/or terminal degree in the teaching discipline or a related discipline.

Preferred Education, Skills and ExperienceCandidates must hold a master’s degree in music with an emphasis in brass performance (trombone, euphonium, or tuba), with preference given to those who hold a doctorate and have demonstrated success in recruiting and teaching at the college level.
